GreyBeard wrote:@jtswife, are you in an evacuation zone, or are you riding it out? Looks like you have a canal right in your backyard based on your picture. Stay safe and don't put yourself in harms way. I remember your posts from last year and always wondered how you made out.
Yes I do have a live on a canal about 200 ft wide. Last year we had a palm tree fall on our lanai cage and destroyed it, we lost some roof, windows sucked out. It was awful scary, The wind blew rain water up under our sliding glass doors so got water in the house, had to be dehumidified. Our dock was underwater for a week. So until this thing is past us I am still nervous. Ian turned after getting into the gulf and hoping this one will be true to the models.

Re: 2023 Atlantic Tropics season
We are getting intense rain bands right now, then will dry slot for awhile.
Looking at the spaghetti models she looks like its going to loop back to the west after she exits the Carolinas.
Idalia 2.0???

Wow just turned on news saw was a Cat 4 strong cat 3 125mph winds, Desantis lost power briefly at press meeting, landfall within the hour (7:07am now). Stay safe, isn't one our members in the croisshairs in Tallahassee? I am just waking and his username escapes me a veteran not on often.

Looks to me like an eye wall replacement weakened her slightly upon final approach

Re: 2023 Atlantic Tropics season
Often times a fast moving hurricane does not strengthen as fast or as easily as slow moving, 18mph down there is rather unusual. Good news is it'll be in and out of any one area in 4-6 hours.Radz wrote:Looks to me like an eye wall replacement weakened her slightly upon final approach
