Measured about 8" here...an average of course with all the blowing. Took about 4 or 5 measurements.

Has anyone taken a look at the consistency of the snowflakes? Ā It's very cool looking...the six sides you typically see in a drawing of a snowflake. Ā Hopefully the below image works...the flakes that stuck to my jacket on the walk home this evening.

Yup, banding has been really pronounced. Has not weakened significantly yet. Even me, only in mod-heavy snow at times is at 6+ without the crazy rates.Noreaster wrote:Ace the bullish call seems to be working out. Ā Maybe not the eastern suffolk call but but other areas looks good or are probably underdone.

Not ending here anytime soon from looks of the radar even at one inch per hour I am looking at a total of at least 12-14 inches, Upton has me very close to the 10-14 and they have not updated since 3:39pm and I dunno if it snows this hard till 1am.

Re: January 21, 2014 Storm Obs. Thread
Left office in Times Square around 2:45 pm (office finally stopped ignoring the obvious and closed early) made it to Penn Station a little after 3. What a zoo! Couldn't make it onto the train going to my station so took a train to what is a nearby station in normal weather, then walked 8 long blocks through at least 6 inches of snow dragging a wheelie to the car. Be careful out there, roads are very slippery. We skidded lots, got stuck once, and that's only a little over a one mile drive. Apple pie is baking in the oven now, definitely earned that after the workout I got from the wheelie walk. Please keep the snow coming so I don't have to drag back into NYC in the morning!

Thankfully not a lot of wind in my yard, pretty well protected on the downslope of a hill....

from looks of radar band seems to be shrinking in intensity from east to west near fairfield county CT and toward westchester. will this be a trend?
