You can say that again Frank! Felt like March out there!Frank_Wx wrote:Windy and cool today
I see we may be developing a cut off low situation for the end of the month into early May - lousy weather pattern cool and wet with the possibility of cold nights for this time of year - frickin A!!

If we're lucky we should avoid the frost most of the time, however it may occur tonight especially in northern and NWNJ, possibly tomorrow but less likely. Getting real freaking sick of having to use the defrosters for the first 15 mins before I go to work so I can see out of the windows.

You know what drives me nuts about wind? When we have a wind advisory/high wind warning, winds rarely come to fruition as originally expected. Then on days like today when we NEED an advisory/warning (there's property damage all around Harlem, patio furniture being whipped around, tree limbs falling) THERE IS NO advisory/warning! It drives me insane!

I agree!
It's much more windy than I expected. Garbage cans rolling down the street all over the place. It's a strong wind when you can get the traffic lights to sway

I do not like this weather. I am also sorry for the families who are losing their homes because of brush fires.

Re: April 2014 Observations and Discussion
Okay folks tomorrow seems to be the best day o fthe week with temp around the mid 60's and then Tues and Wed God Yuck!! Rain, raw and even cold. Hopefully the weeklies on the Euro and GFS come to fruition with the warm air next week if we can get the SE ridge pumping +NAO state. The EPO may go negative - just like this winter - if this occurs then we stay moderate like we've been IMO.
Today I had a 58.6* High with a 41* low - windy at times and downright chilly with the clouds this afternoon (later).

Re: April 2014 Observations and Discussion
Rain showers will move in tomorrow early afternoon and will persist THROUGH Thursday late morning. Wednesday will pretty much be a washout. Temps will hover around the low 60's but I would not be surprised if they do not make it out of the 50's. Up to 2 inches of rain is possible over these next few days, isolated zones may see 3+
Pretty ugly.
The weekend will be clear with temps in the 50's for the most part, possibly low 60's. Noting dramatically warm. Hovering around average.

Re: April 2014 Observations and Discussion
A deepening low is going to track toward the Great Lakes tomorrow night and cut-off from the jet to bring a surge of moisture up along the eastern seaboard. Winds tomorrow into Wednesday will come out of the east but gradually change to a south-southwest direction by Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, which is when the heaviest rain is expected to move into the Philly to NYC Metro regions. This front that forms ahead of the cut-off may bring some t-storms, especially as the warm wedge works its way in, but I think conditions are stable enough to tame severe cells. General 1-2 inches expected with isolated zones surpassing 2 inches depending on the track of the stronger cells.

Quite an impressive cutoff low out there in the midwest, won't be surprised to see some areas surpass 4" but I think the majority will see 1.5-3"

i'm at 47* with a stiff east wind. will not make it out of the 40's until the warm front moves through early thurs. morning. feels like early march. where was the blocking when we needed it? the first 10 days of may look to be at or below normal. probably will not see an 80* day in nyc for some time.
