Thanks Frank that radar tells the tale.
I learned something from reading Janet's posts about humidity. She was very astute in recording the levels in prior storms and today's event here had the humidity start at 66% and drop from there to 34% now.The whole layer has to be increasing in humidity to sustain heavy snow.

My Mom's getting hammered right now in SNJ and she's loving it. She says there's about 6inchs + already.

The radar must be clearing like Jim alluded to. This could be the big one coming.

I'm ready for spring/summer now. Got shafted way too much this winter.
But seriously, I can't wait to start fresh next December! Only a few months away!

Don't feel bad with almost 70 inches for the season here snow, but I agree with you on the warm weather.I'm an out of doors person and I love winter but being cooped up inside without being able to walk or go fishing slowly drives me nuts.I'll take one more big one if it's in the cards but if it's a Rockland-HV dry air scroo job, forget it and let's move on.
Hopefully, I'll be aboard the entire winter again next season.

I am 100% in agreement with you on this Doc. This is my first winter since I retired, and while the summers are great, the winter seems to drag on due to more time being cooped up inside. Get the old cabin fever. I'm seriously thinking of moving to Fla. for the winter, you know do the old snowbird thing. We'll see....

All I know is that I'm glad that we're going to have a little break for the next week or so. I'm exhausted. tracking these storms this year, which there have been many, I think this was number 17, has been frustrating and tiresome at times, actually most of the time. looking forward to get a little sleep in the next few days. still hoping we get one more to track some time later this month and then bring on the nice warm spring weather.

Greybeard, it does wear you down after a while. My Fiancee and I take care of our Moms, hers is 90 and mine is 94, so we cannot get to Florida yet.Eventually, when the Mom's go to their glory, I will be in Florida Jan through March. My wife to be HATES winter,LOL so you know I'll be going, and quite frankly, I've been to Florida for two weeks three years many years ago, and I loved being out of doors in the 80 degree weather. Now that I am wobbly with arthritic knees, I took a bad fall on the ice a few weeks ago.Another reason to go.
I'll be watching the winters on the site when I am down there some day,LOL!

If you think about it, we've actually been mini Boston'd, building up our snowpack with a storm every few days. We just missed out on the bigger snowfall.

Snow, consider the HV Monroe area by me and CP.It hands down beats my old area Mahwah yearly by 10 to 20 inches more snow.CP's figures show a 50 inch average up here per year recently.Saw it in the November storm, over 9 inches here ,Mahwah 3.In March 2013, we had a 17 inch storm here, Mahwah 5 or 6.
On the other hand, the way things have been shifting S and E of here, you may want to consider LI near Syosnow,LOL!

This is the high point of the snowpack, though. The stronger March sun in the 40's next week will start to eat it up fast.

I would love to go up there once I graduate, I live for snow, as you can tell haha. I saw the differences in snowpack between here and there myself the weekend before Juno. That Sunday night before it, I went up to the Outback in Monroe with family, huge difference in snowpack even just going up the PIP a bit. Insane.
Oh, and check this out, wtf! what's with that weird area in Rockland/Northern Westchester?

Greybeard, great story, glad you have BOTH Mom and Dad.You have a big family, don't see that much these days.Hey, next winter, stay with them a while and explore the various towns.I like Boynton Beach, would rent there for three months.Right by the ocean and plenty of good food, cheap. Man, Id be at the baseball training camps, fishing and walking on the beach all the time.

That map is for the most part an estimate since there are no reliable 30 year reporting stations in most of the area. Think about it, NYC doesn't even have a reliable reporting station. Plus the map is for the period 1981-2010. the 1980's were the most snowless decade this area has ever seen.

Tracking storms never gets old. But the lack of sleep catches up to you. Man, I'm beat. Plus all the storms are coming at once this season.
