[quote="snow247"]Possible school delays tomorrow?[/quote
depends on where you are at due to the cold and more so wind chills. Might see delayed for Friday morning with the brutal cold in some parts like nwnj and lhv. I have only seen this once in my life time of schooling in this area and that was 1994 jan. I know it happened last year up around albany. The problem being the kids waiting at the bus stop in such conditions. We'll see.

Light to borderline moderate snow here, already making roads slick.

Re: Polar Blast 2.0 Thursday-Friday, Some Snow Too
Been snowing in Bloomfield for about an hour.
Ironic that Mother Nature chose to grace our little corner of NENJ with this cute, over-performing batch of snow, when all the other big snows have skipped the area.

Band pulling away now, seems the best part of it was just south of me.
Light snow, 24* with a fresh coating.

According to the radar, it looks like this band is improving as it passes the Hudson River. Go figure.

That's probably it though. The front looks to be drying up as it moves east. Poof.

Re: Polar Blast 2.0 Thursday-Friday, Some Snow Too
Not an official measurement but we probably got a 1/2 inch from that squall earlier this evening!
Also wanted to share an interesting observation from by commute to work this morning. I left my house in West Milford and the car thermometer read -1. As I was driving I watched it dip to -3 and then to -5 in a spot closer to the reservoir in Ringwood. Then back up to -3 and -1 for a bit. On my journey I go over a mountain (the famous Skyline Drive in Ringwood/Oakland) and as I went up the mountain I watched the temp rise rather quickly from 3 degrees to 12 degrees at the top of the mountain! Then as I went back down the other side I watched the temp drop again rather quickly to 5 at the bottom. I have been making that commute for 13 years and I have never seen the temps go up and down like that especially with that drastic of a change. Very weird!

Re: Polar Blast 2.0 Thursday-Friday, Some Snow Too
Someone check the Boston radar. They were forecast to get 1 to 2" but the radar has exploded with a huge batch of 1-2" per hour snow.

Heresi, know that area very well, and mini-climates are common.Here in the HV Monroe, there was an ice storm where we lived a few years back.If you drove down the Orange Turnpike 1/4 mile down the mountain, there was no ice at all.Strange temperature changes, indeed!
