Sister recorded 30 mph winds and driving rains in Belmar.
Tomorrow high tide is noon.
They built 15' dunes to protect the beach front as did other beaches for Waakeen, good thing! pirat

Going to bed. Rain gauge measures 1.21" since last night. Moderate to ocassionally heavy batch moving into the western 1/2 of LI right now and looks to last until at least 4 a.m. By then I could be up near an inch and three quarters. Good night all.

Now up to .71.It's a funny thing....now the hurricane goes OTS and I'm getting tropical storm-like conditions.Moderate rain and wind.Go figure!

45* for my low last night and 1.20" in the gauge. Excellent steady to moderate rain yesterday and last night. 3" all total from rain events this week - very much aided in our drought situation.

Heat on 68* to take the chill out of the house.

This is nuts (and not you NutleyBlizzzard) Wed sweating bullets and had ac on yesterday and today need a sweatshirt and heat is on - welcome to the Northeast fall!

Low 40's in Mahwah this morning.Didn't get a reading before I left though. Damp uncomfortable cold. Didn't put the heat on because I'm trying to save some money this month and I could barely get up for work at 5am.

Joaquin is now a category 5 Hurricane. If this thing really did take a Sandy track, there would have been mass destruction.

its amazing to see.. thank you for posting! .I shudder to think what would have come of a hit in our area..we dodged bullet last time were I am ..but not so sure we would have this time...there is so much water with this thing...the saving grace of Sandy was there was not so much rain..on top of the surge...

will we get any of that moisture when it comes up and passes us?
