Atleast it isn't in fantasy range.

That's a serious ice storm though portrayed, like really bad, but even at 144 hrs it is kinda fantasy land in a month like this.

This is just uggggly, would be a potential for a lot of ice damage. Previous frame starts it closer to coast as ice.

GFS is quite similar to answer your question sroc at surface they seem to agree at least a bit. CMC as usual is quite stronger with the cutter, I noticed no one is really paying the CMC any mind this year.

18z GFS shows a clipper that bombs out when it reaches the coast the first week of January. Hour 288. Still fantasyland but some eyecandy and reminiscent of 2005 as modeled.

Re: Wx Banter Thread 2.0
What usually gets me into the Christmas spirit is experiencing the cold/snow in the weeks leading up to it. When it does snow during this time, I usually binge-listen to Christmas tunes, especially ones like "Sleigh Ride" and "Winter wonderland" So for the most part, I haven't really been into it. But there is one thing that gets me slightly into it this time around: the ghost of Christmas past! Over the last few days, I have reminisced about those seemingly magical moments when the first coating of snow hits as the Christmas tree and decorations are up. And while they're have been years where we did not measurable snow between Thanksgiving and Christmas (i.e. 1999, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2012), they at least had short lived cold snaps where temperatures fall into the 20s or even the teens. This time around, no snow AND no cold. 34 degrees is as low as it gets. And no hint of major snow or cold anywhere in sight puts a damper on the occasion. I know I shouldn't be too focused on this, but how can I not. It doesn't feel the way it should.
And if you want to talk about the ghost of Christmas yet-to-come, well, for the snow lovers, that is now reality...

Just watched Lees forecast and I quote, " A dramatic drop in temperature on Monday a high of only 46"
Did I just fall into some alternate Universe where the climate in the northern hemisphere shifted 400 miles south?
So now a high for the day of 7 degrees above the norm is now a dramatic drop and a high of only 46????
Somebody make it stop, please!!!!!!
If I was a bad person and ended up in Hell, this December is it.

overnight will be like a typical June night (or even July) with temps rising to the upper 60s, humid as well.
Xmas eve highs will be similar to this past July 4th.

Have had trouble motivating to post with this weather.MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MY WEATHER FAMILY. HERE'S TO A SNOWY AND HEALTHY 2016.
I HOPE YOU ALL EAT AS MUCH AND GET AS BUZZED AS I WILL THESE NEXT 2 DAYS. It starts for me at 12:00 sharp at my uncles with homemade wine and the traditional fishes. The very first time I'll be in shorts and flip flops for Christmas.

When I lived in FL for 4 years, I learned Christmas spirit to me was more than weather. Although it's been warm. My Christmas tree and the people I spend time with make the spirit.

Re: Wx Banter Thread 2.0
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town.
Not one lawn was white, they were all brown.
It was quite warm, it was seventy-two
Which in Celsius is a plus twenty-two.
The coats were hung in the closet with care.
As shorts and t-shirts were the clothes to wear.
Some may look out in hopes of some snow
Will they get it this year? The answer is no.
But please be wise don’t dwell on that
If you do, well, we need to chat
It’s a time for friends and relatives to get together
It’s always a nice occasion, regardless of the weather.
So let this be the year that we get it right.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

I agree with this 100%.
That's why it always bothers me when people say it's only December. For many of us this is THE winter month. To me there is nothing as special as a cold and snowy December.

Let's make sure we keep some perspective on what Christmas is about. It's not about warm cold, snow rain. Merry Christmas everyone!

Hang in there, Jimmy and CP, Frank sees a possible pattern change for the better. There will be hell to pay for this ridiculously mild Nov and Dec and we could get blasted Feb and Mar! March can be a great snow producing month if it's in the cards. We'll see.

I know I just needed to vent. Tough morning. My zio, dad and I polished off 8 bottles of Proseco and countless fish. Then i played the accordian and we sang old Italian songs till almost midnight.

James,
This is my great uncle playing the accordian. We must have danced for at least an hour. Will take me a week to recover from these last 2 days. Then it's New Years...

Here's the thing:
As of today this December is the warmest in history as we all know:
However it is also over 8 degrees above the average of what use to be the warmest December ever.
It would also rank right now as the warmest March in History.
It is one degree below being the warmest November in history, which just happened last month
The average temperature this month is also one degree from the average April monthly average.
If NYC does not record a trace of snow this month it will be only the second time in 146 years that they have gone this late in the season without that occurring.
If that isn't a good reason to whine, kick, scream, and have a temper tantrum then we may as well retire the banter thread.
Merry Christmas to all, and a special Merry Christmas to our experts who don't tell us what we want to hear, they just tell it like it is.
That's why I can't stand any of them right now. JK
I repeat, it's always darkest before the dawn, and some of what I'm reading from our experts today tells me it may be close to 6:30 am, and that would be a really good thing.
