Nope, somewhere between 08/09  summer.  http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/01/nyregion/01hot.html?_r=0   Sorry, the 6th coolest July on record not the 4th. I remember it well.
They were actually both in a way similar, although in 2009, August warmed up and we actually had a four day heatwave from 8/16 to 8/19.  Weatherwise, June 2009 was the worst June I can remember, even worse than June 2003.  June 2009 was chilly and damp.  In my neighborhood, we have a fair that runs 11 days, ending on the last Sunday in June.  Three of the first four nights (18th, 20th, and 21st) were rained out.  And there were various rain delays over the next week.  It was NOT fun.  While July was also pretty damp, at least we saw more stretches of sunny weather.  But as I mentioned, August finally felt like summer, especially when I went to Montauk from August 3rd through 5th and the weather was 10/10 picture perfect! Sunny near 80 there  Cool

Yea, I remember June was the worst. Rained most of the month. 20+ days I believe we had rain. The only sun I saw was when I went to FL in June. July was cool and yes I remember the heatwave that August. Felt like summer then we went right into fall. Those next two winters were decent also.

Not wishful thinking Janet it's just rare to actually see a huge storm on the actual day. I remember several Easters with snow on the ground but 1970 sticks out because we had over a foot on Easter DAY.

About half of our Christmas in the HV are white, but there are not that many that actually have snow falling on Christmas Day, those are the memorable Christmas. Was it 2002 or 2003 when we had 18 inches (in the HV) on Christmas Day? My favorite Christmas Day of all time.

CP, it was Christamas 2002.My beloved had just moved into Mansion Ridge in Monroe. We had heavy rain down in Fort Lee which changed to heavy snow and left one foot in Fort Lee.I drove up to Monroe Christmas Day and there was 18 inches. One of the rare times N and W has done better in these many years,.

I know this is not about snow and such but I just saw some newscasts about flooding in the South. Bless those people down there for they have serious flooding and damages from the water. Historic flooding and it is not even from a hurricane. What extreme weather!

Is the threat Winter's one more attempt to make us miserable, or is the Old Man offering an icy olive branch?

The weenie member of the 12Z EURO ensemble (member 17) has at hr 168 (8 AM EDT Monday 3/21) a 968 mb low just inside the 40/70 BM. It brings a "Godzilla" snowstorm to everybody in the greater New York metropolitan area.

Just when I threw in the towel this season, I get pulled back in. Hope its not another heartbreak in the end. I've suffered through too many of those this year.

I'm about in the 17-18 inch area of that map so that brings my projected snowfall this winter as per these long range maps to well over 300 inches. In actuality I've had a little over 21 inches in on of the most snowless winters in the HV I have ever seen. I don't mind looking at those maps in the same way I don't mind looking at Sophia Vegara as both are equally attainable for me.

I'll believe this when I'm using my snow blower and shovel to clean it up.  Like all the other storm possibility we were suppose to get in February.

To put it bluntly, I am not looking forward to another winter storm followed by a period of very cold temps and high winds (as current proggs suggest) for the following reasons.
1. Good chance storm will swing further out, once again giving a majority of this region a nuisance event while giving places further east a slightly more significant snowfall and a fish blizzard.
2. Ground temps will be above freezing prior to the event, not the other way around with many other storms this winter (below prior, above after, this storm above before, below after, but likely after a few days of abnormal cold will return above).
3. Due to number 2, the snow will have to fall fast and hard to accumulate, currently not shown. (SLP and majority of moisture too far away)
4. Most of us (me included and the store i work at part time for extra cash to pay off my new car (auto parts)) are out of winter mode an into spring and summer mode. I have washed my car thoroughly and not enthusiastic about it being covered in road salt for a minor event again. Winter products will be hard to find as many stores have pulled their winter planograms and replaced with summer (such as mine, salt and scrapers, starter fluid, drygas, ect. Replaced with AcPro and coolant testers for summer).
5. Plows have already torn up the roads enough (mostly state ones to blame with sparks flying on Rt. 22 on Jan 22nd at night and now that roads almost undriveable eastbound and needs immediate filling or better, resurfacing). These massive fluctuations of temperatures only make it worse.

9 years ago today, we had a huge snow storm. I had to drive up to Boston starting at 7PM and got there at midnight. It snowed until the early morning hours of the 18th. All airports in the area were closed . The ambulance driver that we used to transfer my Mom to a Boston hospital had to get out and remove snow that the wipers couldn't keep up with. We were stuck in the hospital for 2 days and had to sleep there. That was one heck of a storm. One that I will always remember.

Nope, buds are coming out and flowers and plants blooming widespread across the area. Officially in spring mode, not looking forward to ANY more snow/cold and salt and snow tools will be in short supply making this storm a mess should it occur. Ill gladly take a miss here and tack it on to next seasons totals and end this terrible winter, we had thunder, lightning and a downpour today for cripes sakes and about 70 degrees and just over 80 recently since last year...
