NYC still on north cusp of rain, it amazes me the rain is not more expansive, or at least banding. Then again Sandy I got almost no rain.

It will be as it wraps all of this moist air onto the land

Re: Hurricane Hermine Discussion
I personally feel with all the latent heat waters this sucker is going to blow up and deepen. I think the hybrid blend of the GFS, UKIE, GEM and EURO show this as a stronger storm and coming further west - not weenie but looking at how it depicted this down in Fla leads me to believe it will be stronger and more powerful - just using logic

I live about 100 feet from the beach, this is a dramatic turn of events. I will not be evacuating and will post observations from the front lines.

Re: Hurricane Hermine Discussion
I could see these winds being even higher and bit further inland, not wishcasting, just thinking about the potential to grow over those waters, cannot wait to see what happens when it emerges off Carolinas.

Re: Hurricane Hermine Discussion
I was thinking it looked awefully similar, wouldn't be surprised to see further expansion and intensity of winds in future runs, a redux of sandy would be crazy, do remember Joaquin was showing this possible too but this looks like its not going to have a escape like Joaquin had. Get ready today and tomorrow, can never be too prepared, if it ends up being not as bad you will be ready for the next one, and I wouldn't be surprised if theres more than one big threat this season.aiannone wrote:

Re: Hurricane Hermine Discussion
As scary the models have trended today, with the very high SSTS sitting off the coastline its not out of the question Hermine gets even stronger than currently depicted. Weather events like this don't come around very often... that's why we're here and what we live for. It will be both an exciting and frightening couple of days tracking this storm. Everyone hunker down and be save if Hermine lives up to her potential. Frank now might be a good time to schedule a live chat.

After seeing the model runs today and waiting for the Euro to be done I said to my students on the way out the door "see you guys in 10 days" And i wasn't kidding.
