Over the past hour it appears that Matthew has started to shift just a bit east so that it is no longer on its NNW track; appears more N now.

I ve been to charelston, helped with Habitat for Humanity to build 5 above ground homes after a hurricane in I think 2003/2004? Was a great experience, was an alternative spring break and far more worth it than getting drunk and arrested in cancun lol, very quaint and everyone is so friendly, I hope they are all okay.

18z GFS for the first time in awhile shows some interaction between the trough and Matthew. Not enough to bring it up the coast, but perhaps something to watch tonight and tomorrow

Yeah the GFDL and HWRF also have been showing this, doubt its enough to pull it north but it has edged every so more north so much now that all the way into veirginia get flooding rains. but 15+ holy crap for NC!

Yeah, I doubt it, but maybe earlier interaction could mean more moisture brought north with the front tomorrow, though that's probably unlikely as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see this head east off NC instead of looping though. And yeah probably bad situation for the Carolinas that's for sure.

Would be quite a turn of events if it did get pulled north, two hurricane sgetti models bring it far enough north to give us at the very least a ton of rain, unlikely as frank said 99% it stays far away but stranger things have happened.

If the phase between the trough and Matthew were successful, he could have been worse than Irene for our area.
