The park still holding on to a neg departure by a slim margin..to be erased today. The rest have already flipped positive.

High temp 59*,today and down to 41* here already. Tomorrow high for me to be 41*.

It's now official, all 6 reporting stations in the upton area are above normal for the month including Central Park by 0.4 to 1.8 degrees. With the last 4 days of the month to be near or above normal we should easily continue the above normal streak at 18 months and counting. If it wasn't for June 2015 when Central Park was a mere -0.2 degrees below normal the streak would be at 21.

Almost two years in a row of above normal temperatures. Forgive my frustration but when does it F'n end.

I blame AL Gore.

When does it end? Next year. Ok I don't know that with as much certainty as I just said it, but I said back at the time of the Winter Contest I wasn't optimistic for this being a particularly cold, snowy winter. Year after El Niño isn't historically great in that regard. But I do think next winter we cycle back into some cold and snow. There have been hints that we are about to head into a colder/snowier regime from a variety of sources (ranging everything from stratospheric analysis to climate cycles to sunspot activity - take your pick. I've posted a couple of those links here in the past). It would make sense (if it's to happen) that it would start next winter. Oh, since this is the Obs thread, 37* and Cloudy.

Moderate snow here in Hackettstown. Roads got covered quick.

29* here and the precipitation just started falling in the form of a cold rain. Right now the ground just appears wet, not icy, but as it is below freezing there may be icy spots.

Heavy Snow here in Olive ridge at mom and dads. Started at 730. 1" so far now a lull and then what looks like 4-5 hours of moderate to heavy returns moving in. Temp 26 degrees

Started snowing around 8 am. At 9:30 it is 29 degrees and slowing down.  I expect a quarter inch tops before it turns to rain. If the temps hover around freezing, I guess it will be ice but we have no place to go, so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

First plow just came up the road. Approaching 2". 1200' in elevation helping. 27 degrees. It amazes me how my parents dead end road at the top of a non-descript road is always plowed first
