About 1/2" of snow in Suffolk. Early in the morning was freezing rain and a coating of ice. Just recently transitioned back to freezing rain from moderate snow.

2" I have a hard time believing, but it has been snowing pretty good for the past hr or so. I def have a solid 1/2". Here is your classic CAD signature at the surface with surface winds still out of the NNE. followed by the 925 and 850mb freezing lines. S of the blue lines is rain/sleet, and N or the blue lines is snow. You can see the 925mb 0*C line is futher S than at 850. The zone between the 0*line at850 and the 0*C line at 925 is likely sleet. Al this is probably your problem. The way the 850 0*C line is oriented I'm still N of it whereas it looks like you are just S.

Upton:
NYC/Long Island: Less than an inch of snow/sleet accum for NYC
metro...but as much as 1 to 2 inches for northern portions of
Long Island with deeper cold layer and more in the way of

around 4 pm...with temps expected to rise above freezing and

6" here and coming down good. Fluffy snow stacking up quick. By looks of radar about 4-5" more on the way before a late afternoon lull

Surprisingly still snowing at a good clip. We have about four inches at 12:30 pm. No ice. Looking nice out there. 28 degrees. If this really keeps going to dinner time, I can see six inches out of this. Yeah!

And the fight begins here, keeps changing between sleet and moderate snow now.

I've lived in NYC for 9 years and I've NEVER seen this much ice accretion before. My walk to the subway was TREACHEROUS.

My surface temp just shot up to 33*. I was sitting at 32. A simple degree and my precip changed over. 850's are pushing N now as well.
