Re: March 14th Godzilla Discussion Part 2
Our leader has done what ever good leader does in time of nervousness and impatience- RIGHT THE SHIP.
I too have such a feeling this block that Isotherm and Armondo have been harping on for weeks now has come to fruition this bad boy is reminiscent of other major blocks and storms with such ala 2010, 2011, etc.
I am doing to get my goods now son don't have to battle the silver heads.

Look. As much as I'd love a Frankzilla, if we're debating whether this is barely a Roidzilla, or maybe just a Godzilla . . . we're in a pretty good place. A foot or more of wind-driven snow that lasts from before dawn until after sunset Tuesday would be a great storm. And THAT's on a "not-so-great" model run.

Something looks a little off with 12z GFS run. It looks like it's having some CF issues to me.

AL absolutely holy molly
Tis from a pro met in Rockland Cty -
When the vort gets on shore and is sampled better, it could very well be more potent.. that will lead to a deeper low and slower movement.. how often have we seen that these things come in stronger once it's sampled better. Wouldn't be a complete shock if we trended more towards bombs sub 980 mb
If this occurs than OH BOY!!!

I was living in Red Sox Suck for the Blizzard of 78. If anyone here can recall that event; are we talking an epic storm like that? I'm trying to make a comparison. I've hear historical and other adjectives used. I haven't been a Girl Scout for years and I am hardly ever prepared! lol This is not an IMBY question, merely would like to compare.
*Wait....what just happened? I am a Red Sox fan and this will not hold!

LOL, Taffy, this is NY Yankee territory and I catch some of what you are experiencing being a NY Met Fan.
Anyway, that February 1978 storm.I was living in Fort Lee NJ.In those days of no computers, all I had was my NOOA Cube Weather Radio.I remember the announcement 2 or 3 days prior that the storm would dump over a foot of snow, they were that sure that far out.Funny thing, the storm did produce but around mid day, the snow lightened up consderably. What happened was the low pressure TRANSFERRED to another right out the east end of Long Island, and it blew into a monster blizzard as you well remember. We only got a little over a foot while areas up there got blasted with two feet plus. This storm convinced me that you can NEVER be absolutely sure of any huge snowstorm prediction until the day the storm hits and you are looking at 6 to 8 hours of 2 inch plus per hour snowfall rates.Until then, anything can happen and in my 56 plus years of watching these NYC Area snowstorms, I have seen it all.
Cautiously optimistic on this one.So far so good, but I won't be all in until Tuesday 5 AM.
