...Major winter storm is beginning...

Snow has developed in the southern Poconos and is spreading into
northwest New Jersey this morning. Snow rates are beginning to
increase and will reach at least a half inch per hour this
morning. The heaviest snow is expected this afternoon, where
at least inch-per-hour snow rates are possible for several hours.
Unnecessary travel is strongly discouraged.

850mb temps..still warm by the Jersey Shore. These will crash by early afternoon as low matures

Really sleeting good now with the occasional flake mixed in

700mb low is still over WV. Once this low is off the coast expect to see heavy snowfall rates. Still a long way to go for this one.

It’s been snowing lightly here since I first looked out the window this morning around 6 am.  My walk and driveway are coated, but it’s not sticking to the street.  

I still have snow piles from the last storm that are about 2 feet high along my driveway!

Should I be concerned that I'm sleeting? I'm seeing all the other reports are snow. Yes I know this is wave 1.

we had heavy sleet for about half and hour 40 minutes then turned to snow....fwiw

who hoo...temperature dropped 2 * in the last hour!! down to 32!!

It’s been raining and raining and raining...great. 35* I was all pumped up for this should I still be?? Coast still seeing at least 8”? I know there’s a lot of game left. Not liking the rain tho..

A number of vehicles are banned from driving in the Hudson Valley today as high winds and lots of snow is in the forecast.

Starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, the New York State Department of Transportation is banning all tractor trailers on the following roadways until further notice:

   I-87 in both directions between Exit 1 (NYC Line) and Exit 17 (I-84)
   I-84 in both directions between Pennslyvania and Connecticut I-684 in both directions between the Hutchinson River Parkway and I-84
   I-287 (Cross Westchester Expressway) in both directions between Exit 1 and Exit 12
   I-95 (New England Thruway) in both directions from the NYC Line to the Connecticut Line

The NYDOT also announced a ban is in place for the following vehicles on Interstate-84 in both directions between Port Jervis and the Pennsylvania State Line.

       Empty straight CDL-weighted trucks
       Tractors hauling double trailers
       Tractors hauling empty trailers
       Trailers pulled by passenger vehicles and pickup trucks,
       Motorcycles
       Recreational vehicles (RVs)

The ban on I-84 at the Pennslyvania border also applies to all commercial vehicles

The Pennslyvania Department of Transportation defines a commercial vehicle as:

   Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating, or gross vehicle weight or gross combination weight, of 17,001 pounds or more, whichever is greater.
   Is designed or used to transport more than 8 passengers (including the driver) for compensation.
   Is designed or used to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver, and is not used to transport passengers for compensation.
   Is a school bus.
   Is transporting hazardous materials which is required to be placarded in accordance with Department regulations

Ok it's changed to a very fine light snow now. More of a flurry actually.

Panic Mode activated for us coasties! skies are brightening, birds are singing, not much falling just some occasional sleet and rain only good thing was temp fell from 36 to 34.....

Pouring snow in Brooklyn now. Really coming down at a good rate.

Frank, Justice League was DC. So far the only good DC movies were the Chris Nolan Batman movies and Wonder Woman. All the others are a waste.
