Don't give up the ship just yet. Look what happened last year. Aside from that nice hit we got early in Jan.(4th.I think) everything else came in the ass end of winter.

And melted within 6-8 hours. No thanks. I want winter weather JFM. After that pointless. Based on the winter forecasts in November we were uniformly forecast a below normal temp regime and above normal snowfall for DJF. Now we’re “
Lucky if we get 2nd half of January and December. And based on what has happened keep moving that forward. Then we will get 2 weeks in February that are really cold and snowy and people will say their forecasts “verified”. I sound like a bitch and I’ve been dei nking so checking out now

I saw it. It’s the “EXTREME” AMPLITUDE OF MJO PHASE 5 SCREWING OUR WINTER. HAS TO BE. NO EXPLANATION OTHERWISE. NO ONE SAW THIS BLUE GREEN LIGHT COMING

That must have been amazing. It reminded me of the Bayway Refinery explosion in 1970 or 1971.I was getting into my 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix with my girlfriend in Fort Lee NJ and heard it and felt the ground shake a bit as far away as it was.Thought the Russians finally dropped an H Bomb on us, LOL.
Just light rain out, 37 degrees. No slop which is fine with me.I like all snow or all rain, not slop!

And this is the best that December can deliver. Freezing drizzle and sleet 100 miles north of NYC at elevation 1,700 feet.
December is becoming the new November. So sad, smh.

It looks like the record is 64" statewide, and that included Irene and Lee in 2011. I think we are pretty close.

Wish I was measuring in my back yard instead of in my basement. The name of this growing body of water is the MJO 5 River of Tears.

Re: December 2018 Observations and Discussions
The rainfall record in Newark is 65.5 inches Skins in 1983.Since that's one of only three (Newark, Atlantic City, Trenton) official NWS reporting stations in NJ I would assume that's the state record.
May I also add what a God awful disappointment this month has been.

CP, I am not disappointed. Well maybe a little. I won a snowblower in a raffle. That is a stroke of good luck. Of course, I may have to take it to a ski resort to try it out.
Everything evens out.

Oh good Lord. Please read the Playpen thread, between you and Hector we are now doubly doomed. This whole pattern of cutters has nothing to do with the MJO in phase 5, it's you two.
