Looks like we are getting a round 2...not that either has been strong as what you all saw up north, but it looks the Shore might still snow for the next hour or so...
Edit: Make that parts of the Shore...looks like we're done in Bayville. 3rd highest snowfall this year: 0.25"!

immediate freeze up, icy outside now. The snow melted soon as it stopped so now its an icy glaze in spots.

12.7° after a high of 29.7°.
With a solid snow cover I'm thinking sub zero is pretty much a given tonight. I'm guessing -6.0°

I'm at 8 now. If i don't go below 0 tonight I'll be more shocked than getting a lot of snow this February.

NWS really honkin' That squall line. Phone blew up about 4X with the alert. Did make it out here on long island, but as quick as it came, it was gone. Covered the ground, barely. Sad to say this was the highlight of the winter so far.

Re: January 2019 Observations and Discussions
Absolutely nuts around 3 pm in Pequannock. Was after school with some students and visibility was ZERO. I have never seen anything like that before. One of my students said it looked like someone blew powdered sugar off a giant donut. LOL. Thankfully I was not on the road when that squall hit.
Came home to 1.5 inch of new snow on top of the crusted snow/ice (snice?) from overnight. Tried to clean it up but between outrageous cold and wind, I gave up because I could not feel my fingers (in fur lined gloves!) and could not see out of my glasses because they kept fogging up.
Not bored! LOL

3.8°
Would love to make a run at -10°, I haven't seen that since Feb 2016.
I'm thinking someone in this area does. If not tonight maybe tomorrow night, with clear skies, snow cover and dying winds tomorrow night, radiational cooling conditions will be ideal.

8* and clear. Wind chill -9*. I’m wondering if I can get below zero tonight. Maybe wind will hinder that but clear skies favor it.

1994 I remember well. Was in college in State College Pa. January 21, 1994 I believe, the temp dropped to minus-21* (wind chills much lower) a record low. Walked to class that morning. Brutal. Late morning, after I had walked to two classes, it was announced classes were cancelled for the afternoon due to rolling power brownouts.

Around the same time for me. Pittsburgh, PA. Wind chill made it feel like 40 below. Walked a mile and a half to class. Got a ride home!

The temps here won't get anywhere near the 1994 outbreak. We've gone through it many times. Most towns in the HV were -20° to -23°, NW Jersey -32°, LI -16° and NYC -2°. Those were actual temperatures without the wind chill, no ones coming close to those IMO. This is all time cold for Chicago and parts of midwest, it won't be here, but it's cold enough.
