Re: April 2019 observation and discussio
This morning's disco from Upton
Followed model trend of the ECMWF/NAM to bring a developing
storm closer to the coast Tue night into Wed. This system bombs
out from 1014 mb on 12Z Tue to 986 mb by 12Z Wed per latest
ECMWF, passing just S of the 40N/70W benchmark and bringing
precip especially to Long Island and southern CT during this
time. The storm should draw in enough cold air to lead to a
period of wet snow or mixed snow/rain. With wet-bulb temps
should be just above freezing in most places, do not expect more
than an inch or so of accumulation on and mainly on grassy
surfaces, though if a more northerly/stronger trend were to
continue, may have to watch out for heavier comma head precip
making it into New London County in eastern Ct and possibly
higher snowfall amts well inland

All I want out of this is .5 inch to get me to an even 40 inches for the season.Below normal, but acceptable with the horrible pattern we had to work with.

Yes, brings to mind an expression from the old days..."A day late and a dollar short".
I see no ranking thread for this winter yet but I'm giving my area a "D".Below normal and too many slop storms.

44* and Cloudy here. Looks like the heaviest rain bands are just off the coast maybe clipping shore towns from Manasquan to AC. Inland NJ might see a couple rain showers later this evening from some rogue cells in the Balt/DC area. Friday looks like a bigger rain event - and a cold one at that.

Lots of chatter about next weekend and possible nor'easter with interior snows?? I know, its 6 days away, it'll be April 14th so climatologically would be rather rare, models aren't showing anything all to spectacular, and it was near 80 today!! lol, but is there any merit to the discussion?

Looks like a frontal system Friday night (just some rain showers), then there is a storm that may track northeast from the TN Valley Sunday night into Monday, but looks to track inland and be rain for the entire area. I suppose if it tracked off the coast and deepened there could be snow in the higher elevation interior, but that's not favored right now.

Check out that Low Pressure area over the Central Plains/Midwest from Wed. to Friday. That is a bomb. Someone in the northern plains is going to see a couple feet of snow.

The relentless pattern since November continues to produce snow for the Central, North Central and Northern New England areas while we remained cold and dry with the big storms suppressed or cutting west.Happy to have gotten close to 40 inches this season .Let's hope for a better 2019-2020.
