Re: Valentine's Day 2016. NYC first sub zero in 22 years
Central Park 10 degrees at 6 pm
GFS had a projection of 15 for 7pm with a projected low of 5.
The NAM had a projection of 11 for 7pm with a projected low of 1.
We are on the right path here.
Lake placid is -22 now, Albany -2 and my back yard 0.
Straight down the Hudson that's how we set records here. The stuff from the Midwest doesn't do it for us. This is our best setup. Fingers crossed.
Looking to top my -10 from last February.
I keep thinking if we only had a nice snow cover than this would be a lock.

I just checked back at two times where it seemed like Central Park would get down to zero but did not:
1) February 15th, 2015. Temperatures dropped rapidly through the afternoon and early evening. By 9 PM, it got down to 5 degrees, but then it flattened out at 4 and only got as low as 3.
2) January 15th, 2004. Like the one from above, temperatures dropped rapidly through the early evening. At 11 PM, it got down to 3 degrees, but then it flattened out and got as low as 1.
And the 5:51 PM temperatures on those two dates were 11 and 10, respectively. It is 10 degrees as of 5:51 PM there now.

This is a whole different setup Mike that's what I've been harping on all week.
Hopefully I'm not putting the hex on this but I'm in the camp of believing 0 finally gets done.

Down to 10 here in central LI with a cold wind and still 6" snowpack. Going down to -5 easy IMO

GFS has been behind the eight ball on this one Frank.
They'll break 4 before midnight. Unlike years past when they've stopped going down after midnight and settled at 1, 2 or 4 this setup and timing should prevent that.
It's 0 or bust baby.

1° now.. almost there.
Mount Washington is supposed to have a wind chill of almost -100°.. can't even imagine how that would feel.

6 degrees south shore of LI. If we can get to 0 along the shore, Manhattan can get to 0.
