Cold morning but not bad now at 32. So the RB is definitely tilting negative. Bad sign. Hoping its wrong. Hmm. I can't accept any form of rioting or violence on the political front. Love our free speech, but violence draws the line. However, when it comes to snow, my patience is much more open to any avenue possible to achieve desired, very narrow goals of the White Gold. Actually RB, always appreciate and read your honest point of view. Thank you for posting!!!!! What's the point of forecasting if its not designed for accuracy. Uniform opinions without healthy discussion 100% of the time end up resulting in very bad decisions.

I'm honestly not sure if it was a misdiagnosis or what but the figured out that it did not originate in her uterus and that they should have started chemo right away. I think the issue may have come from the first place she was which was a children's hospital in I believe Hawthorne or somewhere Westchester. They said they had been overly optimistic with the info they had but they were not provided correct info. That wasn't elaborated on.docstox12 wrote:jmanley32 wrote:Hi all so poor Eli has started her chemotherapy for what will be a hellish 6-12 months as per her father as one or both of them will have to go part time or give up their career (both very successful people), of course I would do the same but it will not be easy. Eli was not progged correctly and instead of being stage one and having done the surgery unecessarily (this we do not understand, how could such a place like sloan make such a mistake?) she is actually stage 3. However the only good news is it has not metastacized. My daughter saw her the other day she is doing okay but after one treatment it is already starting to show signs of taking a toll, wobbly walking etc. I hope she can come out of this okay but we are all worried. I bought her a paired lavender unicorn friends so each of them take one, so cute i could believe it when I found it as unicorns are her favorite thing and even better it came as a pair with arms intertwined but removable by velcro. She loved it. God willing I may have ajob incoming so pray for me on that too.
Very disappointing to hear Sloan misdiagnosed Ellie, they are supposed to be the best.I have seen this fight against cancer my entire life and am amazed in this day of super computers and electron microscopes, a cure has not been found. That being said, prayers for little Ellie and her family as well as you to get a good job.

Praying for strength for her and her family. It is going to be a long process I'm sure.
On a side note, got my 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine, waiting to see if I have any reactions. So far, very sore arm and a little itchy. I didn't have any problem with the first dose.

One of if not my best storms of all time. I think I got 28”. And funny as you point out it came in a winter where we got virtually nothing else of significance. I still have video on my phone of the whiteout conditions at the height of the storm. Because it was a daytime storm it made for perfect viewing/tracking.

Re: Banter Thread 5.0
I’m still in the pool of cautious optimism but With the way things have gone I’m currently sipping my drink; looking at the family with the toddlers in the pool wondering if they have been peeing in the pool or what?
Definitely a kudos to Ray. I’ve been so busy sipping my drink and looking at the blocking and such and I forgot to look at the entire picture. Strat vortex positions is awful and the MJO continue to gain amplitude into 6/7, both warm phases in the east. Without the blocking you don’t even want to know how warm we might be right now.
This is 70mb up to 10mb. The strat warming it appears has helped develop some blocking, but despite being incredibly weak this positioning puts the coldest strongest push to the tropospheric troughs and cold air on the wrong side of the planet. Enter in MJO entering warm phases, AND the fact that we still have La Niña atmospheric influences that tend to want to take a storm track to the west. Again without a true resistance (strat vortex opposite side of N Hemisphere) other factors, esp when they both tend to alight with one another to end up to the same result, will end up winning out. Again there isn’t enough cold push/resistance in the atmosphere when the energy come across the country. With blocking in place we are getting “some” colder weather right now but it has no staying power because it has very little reinforcements; whereas the warmer factors have enough to ouch back just enough. When the blocking breaks down we immediately flip to well above normal.

Re: Banter Thread 5.0
The pattern is not necessarily bad IMO, but it's about getting a break at this point. Getting the spacing we need between shortwaves, some transient ridging and deep enough cold air. Storm track hasn't been anywhere near as bad as last year for most part, but what has sunk January is wave spacing and before mid January lack of enough cold air.
If we lose the -AO then we're toast and it'll take a fluke to get something decent. If we can keep the -AO, then at least we are in the game for something. Then it just takes a window of cooperation with the Pacific.
These past two winters ought to really enforce to folks that at this latitude how things have to go right for us. We can't just snow like CNE, upper NY State, NNE at the drop of a hat.

I never "throw in the towel" on a winter, as I've seen many late February and March snowstorms in winters that started off poorly. So I say there is always hope until April . . .
That said, this winter is really bleeping annoying.

Agreed and for me once we get through February, even if you get the rare March hit, nothing sticks around that late in the season and warm ups are just around the corner anyhow. To mean we have 28 days of winter left since nothing is happening this week.billg315 wrote:I never "throw in the towel" on a winter, as I've seen many late February and March snowstorms in winters that started off poorly. My Weather Channel application says watching a potential winter storm for 1/31. The last time it said that was before the significant December snow. That's a good a signal as any at this point.

I hope this storm happens but the 31st I am driving out of town for plans I cannot cancel so I am hoping it can hold off until at least the late afternoon on the 31st. I know its too far out but is this a possibility that it holds off until later in the day the 31st? I guess i'll prolly have to wait and see come fri/sat.

L.A. down to San Diego. Hollywood sign will be buried.
Pretty sure they are talking about the high Sierras. No way Reno sees anything like that.
