and cells keep adding to it. If it holds together it's go get nasty. And they are moving in more of a training se so it could last quite a while.essexcountypete wrote:That line stretches way back into NYS and beyond, and it's scary looking.

Is it just me or does that bowing line coming off the lakes look like it has the potential to form a derecho? Thats going to take forever to get down here though and will likely die out unless it has insane power.

Re: August 2020 Observations and Discussion
Does not look like NJ will see anything, it also looks like NYC area may miss any action but 50 miles to the east is getting hell right now with tornado warnins and severe t-storm warnings with extreme winds. I'll wait till the watch is over at 8pm but as soon as the sun starts to go down the airmass will stabilize most likely and anything moving into the area will pitter out. IMO the enhanced area needs to be moved out of NJ and into CT and central NY only.

I’ll tell you what. It just went all Aunty-Em outside. Dark skies scowling at me, and winds.

Absolutely does, but everything is moving fast atm. Been watching the national radar mosaic a lot today and it sure has that derecho look about it.

I dunno, the storms are still very far to the north and west of the area, won't cooling after we lose the sun cause them to die out?

The town next to my hometown in CT is 99% out. They had gusts to 92mph!! My parents town miles away fine. Amazing. Also a tornado confirmed in Bethany and Hamden CT. National Guard is deployed.

A real humdinger around here last night around 6ish
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=JpDmWbx5jkA
quite the storm. No wonder we lost power. This morning it is being called a possible tornado because of the damage. Montgomery is about 6 miles from me. The annual General Montgomery parade is pure Americana. Can't be missed if you want local flavor.

Had lots of heat lightning last night in Seaside Park, no rain though, stayed just north in Brick and Point Pleasant. Today's storms look like they are staying south of Rt 80.

So it was a tornado six miles from here two days ago with Up to 90 mph winds, a width of 600 yards, and a length of 2.6 miles. I just saw the NWS post about it. All this in just five minutes

Re: August 2020 Observations and Discussion
I am excited for the weather, I am somewhat nervous about whats going to happen as flu season combines with COVID. People get your flu shots early! I hope things have changed since I last heard about this winter being like last season. Anyways was nice day, not to hot, still not cool enough. Tropics are mainly quiet except for a few areas to watch with no threat to land.frank 638 wrote:What a beautiful day today is No humidity cool Breeze and I noticed some of the leaves are starting to change already I’m so excited we are getting close to fall
