Speaking of radars the new NWS one is horrific.

Re: Super Bowl Snowstorm, Part II: First Call
PAGING @billg!!! Remember that discussion we were having about looking for early signatures?
Red line looks to be the back edge of the coastal based on recent satellite imagery. Let’s see how it plays out!
Also, Frank, nice maps!! Sorry I can’t add much discussion, just too busy. I’ll be trickling pictures in from my parents’ place from the last storm. Check that storm thread out for a prelude, for those interested.

Also noting some of the higher cloud tops on satellite this evening flaring from the north shore of Long Island back across north-central NJ. Wonder if heavier banding will be favored in that area.

Was actually wondering that myself. See? You’re getting it now!! I’ll be interested to see the radar tomorrow morning, for sure.

It actually wouldn’t surprise me, IF these assumptions turn out to be correct, to see a zone of subsidence between those two strips (with a snow band right on the back edge, and then right along/just southeast of I-95).

Yeah 2-3, maybe 4 if we get lucky. We still have a couple more shots of snow on Tuesday and later in the week.

Winter Storm Warning downgraded to Winter Storm Advisory up here in Boston. We went from 6-8" to 3-6". I am not happy.

Yeah, this system looks to be toast. Too warm in places and track seems to have shifted. Whatever we get, we get. Likely 1-3, with minimal stickage on the pavement.
