Seems to be warmer than originally expected here in north central nj. I doubt we see more than 2-4 here if that

Reporting from my “remote” location today at the South Jersey Shore. 40* with Rain here. Given that temperature, and how fast this system is moving I doubt I’ll see much, if any, snow down here; maybe a brief shot of a couple hours right at the end as the colder air wraps in behind the Low. But I’ll have to leave the snow reports to those of you up in the north country. Lol.

I think northern Monmouth and Middlesex counties in NJ will see 4"-6" today. Surface is cold enough and 700mb frontogenesis looks good.

I too am in that general location, actually more northern Middlesex County. Temps are pretty much marginal at this time which makes me think we don't see much unless snowfall rates are very high

Re: Super Bowl Snowstorm, Part II: First Call
East almost Southeast flow at NJ shore. Explains my 40* with rain. Temp should drop as the Low tightens up a bit and we get a more N-NE flow, but this thing will move so quick won’t do much good right at the coast. It’s good to be here during these storms so I can feel the Coasties pain. I’m with you today SENJ Snowman. lol.

Ha ha...My Man BillG. You're far more than an honorary coastie- you're a full on half-brother!!
What you are experiencing has occurred down here about 12-15 times since Jan 2019. Last week was the only non-white rain (aka accumulating snowfall) we've a had since then. So, I'm expecting some white rain on the back end of this and not much more. Ocean and certainly Atlantic and Cape May County- really anywhere south of Barnegat- almost out of the game entirely on coastals this year. doa. The further north you go, the longer hope persists for, only to fade swiftly and forcefully at 24 hours out. Once you've hit I-195, you're in a good spot. North of that AND west of the GSP? Please...it's snow-topia. Oh what a world...

Red line looks to be the back edge of the coastal based on recent satellite imagery. Let’s see how it plays out!
Also, Frank, nice maps!! Sorry I can’t add much discussion, just too busy. I’ll be trickling pictures in from my parents’ place from the last storm. Check that storm thread out for a prelude, for those interested.
So rb as the precip field tightens it looks like you’ll be pretty close on your part of the hypothesis. Let’s see if that banding feature pops up around what caught my eye last night.

SENJ it's a all about the Fall Line. To the west will get more snow better based on elevation and proximity to the ocean. It runs pretty much the I95 corridor. There are exceptions though like Boxing Day Blizzard where east of the Fall Line did so much better than west. Like Hunterdon/Warren counties getting 5" and Monmouth/Middlesex/Hudson/Union counties getting 24"+.

22 degrees here with a high of 30 today being predicted. This is cooler than for most of us on the board. I see no snow yet but against the snow is a beautiful black squirrel. The snow shows the little fellow off nicely. Bad luck for him if a hawk sees him
