No new snow here at all. Although I still have piles of it in my front yard.

Low was 26* and a high of 56*
May not hit that low temp until October or November.
56* felt like mid 60's in the sun working on my 4 vegetable garden beds

Hit 26* this morning, sucks after being in 80* weather! I may need to buy a place in Florida. Well at least the days will be warmer.

Curse you old man winter for this MJO wave entering the not so freindly phases on this oscillation!! This would mean a trough and colder weather in our region.
Gonna be a rainy day manana and Saturday.

Wind a'comin'. 50 mph gusts later today and tonight.
About five days ago, my gigantes started flowering. Crocuses are up. Buds are on the lilac bush. Spring cleanup commencing on the perennial beds. Out by the stream, skunk cabbage is starting to sprout up through the ground. In about six weeks, out go the over-wintered plants.

And just think Damian, thanks to our illustrious governor Cuomo, you can soon put a marijuana crop in one of your planting beds and grow some hudson valley wowi lol.

79°F here, sunny, gusty, low humidity. What a gorgeous day! I’ll take another month of days like this, please! The last of my snow finally melted today.

GreyBeard, I like how you think but it is 18 months after the first dispensary opens. Then people can grow. If I were to grow (I like the look of the plant), I would donate it to Doc, CP, and anyone else as I do not partake. Governor Cuomo has his share of difficulties as the moment. I think he might be growing some to ease his anxiety.

Should I even mention what the GFS is showing for Thursday (aka baseball opening day)?? I'll just pretend I don't see it for now, but of course, it wouldn't be the first time an opening day was disrupted by such . . . out of season, weather.

Re: March 2021 Observations and Discussions
I wasn't aware of the particulars of the legislation, so you might have to wait a while then. Alas, I do not partake either anymore, but I did back in the late 60's and 70's. It would definitely give your garden a distinct odor. Got a good laugh at your Cuomo comment.
Temps are low 70's here, but winds are starting to crank up. Not used to having such a warm wind. Great day to open up some windows and air out the house a bit.

If you're a Yankee fan, snow on opening day is a good omen. It could be the start of a new dynasty, like it was in '96. Ah, good times.

I wish I had a way to measure the wind gusts because these winds are shaking my house and threatening some large trees. Can't wait to see the top mph for the gusts as they must be approaching 60mph.

March Weather Madness! 80 degrees and the freight train sound is just starting to die down. Very impressive.
Anybody else have that guy on their block that never rakes up his leaves in the fall? Leaves that mother nature evenly distributes throughout the neighborhood? I hate that guy right now.

Wind Advisory? These winds are nuts, partial building collapse in yonkers. These are well over 45mph-55mph consistently, should have been a HWW. When we have a HWW we get WA criteria maybe when we have a advisory all hell breaks loose lol. My apartment is literally shaking and its a brick building!

We get debris all winter after we clean up the fall mess. Days like today the debris in my front yard blows down the street, I have a clean front yard now!
But... my backyard where the trees are is a mess!

LOL, thanks, Damian, but it's been a quarter century or more since I did a "doobie".Don't be so sure the "Peoples Republik Of New York" will allow anybody to grow it.They want their cut of taxes,LOL.As far as Cuomo goes, I want to see him in an orange jumpsuit,LOL.
Howling winds seem to have died down on this cooler morning.Looked way ahead on NWS , and cooler temps at the end of the coming week.Last bit of snow from big pile my snowplow guy left melted away the other day.Saw a few "snirt" piles still in town yesterday morning.

Looks that way, NWS Upton discussion:
..WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM EDT
MONDAY...
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southern Connecticut,
northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.
Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the
Internet for more information about the following hazards.
Wind Advisory.
In addition, a line of showers and embedded thunderstorms
approaching into this evening ahead of a cold front has some
potential to produce isolated damaging wind gusts. The probability
for widespread hazardous weather that would meet NWS warning criteria
is low.

Re: March 2021 Observations and Discussions
NW NJ aint done yet LOL!
An impactful system is expected to move through the region on
Wednesday and Thursday, with much colder and breezy conditions
expected to close the week.
Deterministic model solutions have noticeably converged
regarding the Wednesday/Thursday system evolution. However,
critical differences remain, particularly with the track of the
developing wave of low pressure along the advancing front in the
southeastern U.S. Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The 00z ECMWF
and CMC remain noticeably slower with the advancing trough and
continue to be preferred owing to the developing high-amplitude
ridging downstream. The 00z GFS has trended closer to the tracks
of the ECMWF/CMC with tonight`s output, increasing confidence
somewhat. Nevertheless, the GFS continues to be more
progressive and drier with the precipitation from the system
during this period, an important caveat to the discussion below.
As the low approaches the CWA Wednesday afternoon and evening,
considerable large-scale lift will be in place via right-
entrance region upper divergence from a favorably positioned
250-mb jet streak, strong differential cyclonic vorticity
advection downstream of the advancing, more neutrally-tilted
trough, and substantial warm/moist advection on the northern
periphery of a poleward-advancing warm sector. Models indicate
widespread precipitation developing in this regime, convectively
enhanced near the approaching front and in vicinity of the
intensifying surface low. Model soundings do indicate some
instability in the pre-frontal warm sector, especially if the
surface low tracks farther west. Have added thunder to the
forecast for much of the region Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Heavy rainfall is quite possible with this setup, especially
since upper-level flow will become oriented mostly parallel to
the approaching front (thanks in large part to the high-
amplitude ridging downstream). QPF of 1-2+ inches is depicted
with the CMC/ECMWF (50+ percent less in the GFS/ICON). Given the
potential convective enhancement of the precipitation and a
couple of antecedent soaking rain events, this seems like a
setup that favors some flooding potential. Will monitor this
closely as the event approaches.
In addition, very strong cold advection will occur on the
upstream side of the cold front, with temperatures dropping
10-20 degrees in a matter of a few hours after frontal passage.
The cold conveyor belt of the intensifying surface low, along
with favorable frontogenetical forcing/deformation, may produce
a band of precipitation on the west/northwest side of the low
that lingers for several hours. Thermal profiles would favor a
switchover to snow for the southern Poconos and far northwest
New Jersey, perhaps resulting in some accumulations Thursday
morning. (Much heavier snow may occur to our north/northwest,
notably.) Will be monitoring this potential as well in the
coming days.
