sroc4 wrote:Hey ended up like most on LI at 8". I do think that ratios ouit by me, esp at the onset where not nearly as profound as they seem to have been to the west. When shoveling this am I had a def layer of heavy wet snow at the bottom of the pack making me think that at the start I was at or even just below 10:1 and then quickly hovered between 10:1-12:1 throughout most of the event. Still was absolutely wonderful seeing the snow fall at around 6-7ish at rates of approx 1+" an hr. Im so glad it appears between the Monday system and today the vast majority of our coverage area should be pretty happy. Def a wonderful way to kick off the season.

Trained spotter in Yonkers recorded 6.8 inches.
From now on we take Jmans measurements and double them. Problem solved.

I highlighted the problem above. Most metal fire escapes have holes in floor, and the vast majority of them, admittedly I have not seen them all, reside up against the side of the building making snow fall exposure unreliable.
As long as Jons measuring the fire escape I agree double the total.
Just playin with you Jon!

Only got 2 inches up here 20 miles north of 84. I was just too far north to get the goods on this one. 3 for the season. Glad to see so many did so well.

Re: January 7th 2022 Snowstorm Threat
I used to love doing this! Mine were huge, I did it at corner of drive way, one year I was very lucky, I had just come inside when a car lost control and drove right into and over it, I would have been killed or seriously injured as he would not known I was in there. I never did it there again, in fact I think I no longer made any period can't remember.

SE NJ, love those pictures of kids being kids!
Wow, that took me back over 55 years when I built one on my parents lawn.I had a few small openings where I could look out an use my pea shooter to ambush any friends of mine who had the misfortune of walking past.Once held my Dad up inside the 1954 DeSoto when he came back from work. Those pea shooters were like machine guns,LOL.Anyway, I paid the price for that stunt,LOL.

About an inch of snow here in Albany from this system. Obviously not as much as places downstate but given my doubts that I would even get that much, it was a good inch of snow.
