Is it me or is the precipitation field a lot further west?
It is, yes

This storm looks a heck of a bit west than what was forecasted earlier. Was this from the negatively tilted trough earlier than Webb claims was not.

All of this started earlier then expected correct?
Also, aren’t those heavy bands in south Jersey more inland then expected?

Down here at Exit 80 of the GSP. All I can say is that I am very humbled by and grateful for how this storm is unfolding.
You’re putting me to shame so far. Maybe 1.5” so far. Very underwhelming here so far. That westward propagating death band is robbing me lol

Same here. Banding is further west of the Barnegat area. About 3" so far.

Bring it on! Further west this can get, the longer it’ll last into tomorrow hopefully. Won’t get the heaviest stuff here in Somerset County but I’ll take a long duration moderate event!

Our H3 jet continues to be further west of modeling for the same time. This is aiding in enhancing lift throughout the atmospheric column all the way to the Delaware River, among other things.

22 with light to infrequently moderate snow.
Hoping to get 6-8 when all is said and done. Will measure in the morning. Good night and good luck to all.

Just got up had take a little time get some sleep. Coming down pretty good. It did. Fill in nicely on radar compared to.earlier and previp field is fed way west of models.

Re: Godzilla 2022 JAN 28th-29th Observations
Surface through H85 are now vertically stacked. H7 maturing. H85 and H7 frontogenesis are spatially staggered right now, with H85 frontogenesis displaced immediately southeast of the H7 frontogenesis, which is giving us a nice isentropic surface to lift air on (think of a ramp from southeast to northwest). At H5, we are seeing beautiful vorticity advection over the top, and finally, awesome upper-level divergence thanks to a favorably located jet streak. With the maturation process just beginning to optimize, it would not surprise me to see these bands encroach on the NJ/PA border, *possibly* even making it into eastern PA, at least for a while.

Now I’d say 1-5-2”/hr rates. Visibility is very poor right now. At least 4.5, if not 5” otg already. Would love a foot by the time I wake up at like 11z.

I presume that means for majority of board we stay in decent snows.rb924119 wrote:Surface through H85 are now vertically stacked. H7 maturing. On the frontline of this in Hunterdon it hasn't happened yet - light snow, nice coating, maybe picked up a bit but we haven't seen the good stuff really yet. Taking to heart the comments throughout the day on the big bands and subsidence. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.
