What time is this Winding down? frank said worst part of I recall 5 am to 9am something change ?

Few inches here in edison maybe 4 or 5 but hard to tell since the snow is blowing around so.much. it us still snowing but it is light, I guess we are missing out on the heavier bands and dealing with some subsidence

26.4* and dropping. Snow is coming down sideways visibility is dropping. Probably doubled my snowfall total since 5:30 am. The snow that fell until 5:30’was wet compacting snow, what is falling now is light and fluffy, going to make for a tough cleanup tonight.

Puking snow here on the north end of LBI. Very hard to tell exactly how much snow we’ve gotten with the drifts, but has to be at least a foot.

few inches NW NJ so far. heard those winds starting to kick in during the night gave me a few jumps

Still have a blinding heavy snow laying down on top of what’s got to be 12-14” of fallen snow already.

Wind driven snow here in Jersey City. Wind woke me up a couple of time. I’m on the 6th floor and visibility must be like 1/10 of a mile. Radar still looks impressive this morning.

Long Island

Impressive radar considering how far off the coast our storm is. Miracles of a negatively tilted trough, upper level jet and a 700mb low just off the coast

21* with snow flurries. Has really lulled here. Stuck at just over 3”. Might add another inch if I catch a heavier band later but I think it’s mostly over here. Looks beautiful nonetheless!

Visibility down to one block lol eyeballing 10” but there’s no way I’m measuring this with any accuracy lmao

Here’s what I woke up to:

12 degrees, light snow, blustery.Closing in on 4 inches here.From the look of the radar maybe another inch over the next few hours.Frank nailed the subsidence up here perfectly! Congrats and enjoy Jersey Shore and LI crew, this is your winter!
Absolute winter wonderland out here.Again, very grateful to get what I have so far as some of those maps a few days ago had me getting nothing.Will depend on CP's trusty snowboard when he reports in, probably soon.

Great job on the snow forecasts from our weather team here ! Also, I want to give the NWS a cheer for an overall good job!

Upton:
Banding continues to increase and there are signs of the
deformation axis setting up somewhere just east of NYC into
Nassau County. Several mesoscale snow bands continue to rotate
in from the south and east and converge near this axis. Snowfall
rates around 1" per hour possible and could be as high as 2-3"
per hour especially through the morning across eastern Long
Island. No changes made to the ongoing headlines, but snowfall
totals were adjusted and some areas across the east end of Long
Island could see close to 20" by the time the snow diminishes
this evening.

Thanks, SENJ!! I must admit that I’m pretty pleased with how things have gone so far, but no victory can be claimed yet, or laurels be rested on - it’s only halftime haha gotta see how February and March turn out!

Hey Bob are we done with this storm here by us ? What amounts did you get ?

Pretty much done. Maybe another inch or so with this lingering snow. That 700 mb low off the jersey coast will now scoot NE and shut the snow off. I am estimating 4 to 5 inches now so figure 4 to 6 when done.

have no idea how much but probably less than 6 inches, and its very close to ending. snow is blowing sideways but I am pretty sure most of it is blowing snow as the snow is very light. news report said 4 inches about 15 miles to my north so i would say about the same, sorry but big disappointment but congrats to LI, it can't always be our storm but oy it hurts it is so close.

Got about 3" here, same issue with the wind and trying to measure. I don't know if those bands on LI will make it back this far west to get us to the 6-8 expected. We'll see, have a few hours yet.

Just took a walk on the beach. Couldn’t stay too long out there with how bad it was whipping. But here’s a nice drift at the end of the path on my street.

Not sure what they have warnings till 7pm when it is going to end 10 hrs earlier than that, they just said by 9am nyc and east will be only places snowing.
