Intermittent moderate snow flurries.
25* and EVERYTHING is iced over here in Hillsdale, NE NJ.
Untreated roads, walks are sheets of ice as are cars.
Main roads are fine, they've been salting about every hour.

Mugs, sorry to hear about the conditions up there. Not trying to discount the severity of the danger via my frivolity in any way.
But the frivolity continues. At the coast, we been spending most our lives chasing the Snowman’s paradise! Somebody don’t stop this madness soon, we gonna hit the big 2” like it’s Feb 2020 all over again!

Big flakes still coming down pretty hard. But for now the rate of accumulation isn’t nearly as impressive to match. Figuring another 2 hrs tops, hopefully squeeze 1.5”, maybe 2” out of this surprise round. Maybe a bit more on some already frozen surfaces. Will have to do a more accurate survey in the morning.

Re: Monitoring February 4th
Since the temperature went below freezing Thursday evening here in Albany, we had a couple of hours of freezing rain amounting to 0.1 to 0.2 inches of ice, followed a 12 hour period of sleet which accumulated 2-3 inches. Then about 10 hours of steady light snow which accumulated about an inch or so on top of the sleet.
Clearing off my car was quite the challenge with all of this precip types accumulated onto it. I ended up taking a couple of breaks to warm up. Without the breaks, I spent 2-3 hours just clearing off the car, but that's only half the battle. The 3"+ of ice/sleet/snow accumulated on the ground was difficult to shovel. I cleared off some of it but not all of it. We'll see how the crews here at this apartment complex handle this tomorrow.
Currently 12* with a wind chill of 1*. And air temperatures are forecasted below 0 tomorrow night. This cold the next couple of days sure won't help with the icy situation.

Yeah, I’m gonna say that the excitement of the moment last night kinda outpaced the moment itself! Lol. Looks like a nice 1/2”, maybe I can justify calling it an inch, but I’ll have to see when I venture out in an hour or so. Either way, a fun way to close out the night for sure!

I saw it on TWC forecast. The timing for frozen precipitation is not good! Hope schools are keeping an eye on this!

Re: Monitoring February 4th
Give me a snow storm or sleet storm any day of the week over this ice.
Just freed up my driveway today and it was a three hour struggle.
Freezing rain is the only winter precipitation where I’ll choose plain rain.
On a positive note 31 straight days and counting of snow cover here in eastern Orange County. In what has so far been below normal snowfall, currently at 21 inches for the season, I honestly have no complaints. It’s looked and felt like winter for a month straight and that’s what I want out of winter.
Snow cover may take a hit midweek, that remains to be seen. There’s a lot of snow sleet and ice in the 5-6 inches of snow on the ground. I’d guess a LE of at least two inches which means it will be like melting 2 feet of snow. It’s not gonna go easily.

Pure snow for me, hate sleet and freezing rain.
In this below normal, dry and cold winter, you are right CP, the snowpack up here for a month has made it bearable. If it wasn't for that, I would be grading this winter an F especially with the mild December and "green and mild" Christmas.Went down to Ramsey today, and just some snow piles. There is still ice on the trees and bushes on my property, but nothing down the hill by the Red Apple Rest.Just a few degrees makes a big difference with the elevation.
I think you are right, even though we get to the low 40's, this concrete is not going to budge, and it re freezes every night.A few snow events plus continued cold could get us to the end of February in the snowpack derby, lol.
