The next batch precip with embedded lines headed into NJ looks like the real deal. Looks like will impact all this time, hope you all stay safe and don't lose power, luckily Coned pretty much removed every tree in my area (but looks awful without them) but it is errily quiet right now.

Was that earlier line that sroc wrote of when the 60mph brief period the NWS said was possible was or is that still to come, im hoping it doesn't get worse in CT my daughter is really counting on seeing her g-parents tomorrow. Scott do you have power out there on LI?

???? Westchester is one tiny county. A frontal boundary can be very narrow.

Tiny? But it is heavily populated, but yes I get what you are saying and SR models did shopw that line of heavy winds just missing immediate nyc area. Trust me I do not mind I do not want to lose power, just trying to understand how things coming from west did not impoact some areas but now I understand. CT was very unlucky, even western CT was hit hard which was also what kind of confused me. Sounds like the worst may be to come for entire area though with frontal passage per mugs?

I bring this up again.  As the 500mb trough clears the area it's going negative and there's a lot of mid-level energy that can drop snow to Cape Cod and Eastern LI on Saturday.  I'd be surprised if some of those areas don't get clipped.

A strong Arctic cold front is expected to move through the region
from around Noon to 1 PM EST. The front will be accompanied with
briefly heavy showers, possibly with lightning, and strong gusty
winds of 40 to 50 mph. Southerly winds will shift to the west and
Arctic cold will begin to move into the region, with westerly
winds 20 to 30 mph and gusting 40 to 45 mph.

Temperatures will rapidly drop, as much as 15 to 20 degrees in
just a few hours, and will fall below freezing early this
afternoon, and wind chills will be in the single digits to around
10 above zero by late afternoon. If venturing outside be prepared
for the rapidly changing conditions, and dress appropriately.

Another concern is any standing water may become black ice late
this afternoon into the early evening hours.

44* with steady moderate Rain. Winds still from a southerly direction at 17 mph. Radar shows line of heavy rain showers moving in. Expect winds to kick up a notch with that and I bet my temp drops to the low 30s shortly thereafter.

The wind has picked up suddenly and the rain has turned to rain/snow mix. Wind chills will be in the negative teens or twenties by the end of the work day. The last person to hate an Elliot this much was Al Capone.

You can see the ULL and the trough going negative.  This is not something progressive.  It will tend to form waves that can enhance precip and I think tomorrow far eastern areas are in line for a snow threat.

Wind suddenly picked up from 0- ocassionally howling. I live in kind of a strange set up with buildings around so depending on wind direction It can seem like theres no wind when there actually is.

Temperature starting to plummet.  38.2 with snow falling.

From 37 to 23 in a couple of hours. Wind chill currently at 6. Strong winds already. Puddles have been frozen over for a while. If I knew how to post a video, I'd share the sights and sounds.

After a morning of heavy rain the flakes have arrived. Temp has dropped to 33* and we’ve gone over to moderate snow here. Wind is now whipping and snow is swirling in the air. Btw that is a 20* temp drop here in 6 hours.

28.5 with moderate snow about .5" or so.  sticking to paved surfaces now.

Heavy rain mixing in with sleet

We had crazy rain with sleet mixed in just crazy about 40 min ago. Winds gusted to 28 mph and temps dropped 7 degrees in 40 min..to 41*..nuts

32* steady moderate snow and gusty winds. Ended with 1.35” of rain before the changeover. Snow just starting to stick to some colder/elevated surfaces.
