Re: February Obs & Discussions
Aware, you never know, I have had it snow heavily here and rain 15 mins into the bronx. Even 3 inches is better than calling a winter with nothing, I am not exactly excited but my daughter really wants to go sledding so im hoping it'll be enough for that 3-5 is just barely enough. If not then oh well, maybe Friday something will happen but that one seems less likely. BTW welcome to the forum and love the username lolWinterColdandSnowisamyth wrote:jmanley32 wrote:Yay my first wwa 3 to 5. Im perfectly pleased if that happens.
I would temper my excitement if I were you. You do have to realize you are the southernmost part of that advisory area and would be more in line for the 3 inches than anything else.

Have to say, there was one puzzling thing in my WWA earlier. It put me in a 1-3" forecast but then said "snowfall rates may exceed 1" per hour at times Monday night." Those two things are tough to square.

Well possibly those rates exceeding one inch per hour will last 5-10 minutes. If you have several of those with very little in between you could still stay within that range.
Personally I can’t stand the white stuff. However Since most on here seem to enjoy it I’ll be rooting for all of you.

This works out well. I'll only have to look out my window at the snow for a few minutes at a time then can go back to other tasks. Just hope I don't miss those higher rates on one of my bathroom breaks.

It’s been a challenging winter for all of us, this is just another one of those challenges for you.
I actually heard a tale today about some gentleman on a weather forum that was so distraught about the lack of snow and cold this winter that he had a complete schizophrenic breakdown. Very hard to believe lack of snow could cause someone to become mentally unbalanced. Who knows if it’s true though. I have my own problems to deal with.

28 degrees, clear ,calm.Nice to see pink in my area and surroundings.Very rare sight this season. Will be nice to see the increasing clouds during the day.5 to 8 inches tomorrow and snow possibility later in the week.Could be a big mean reversion coming the next 5 weeks.

I am just sad pure and simple...lots of emotions this year with being in the middle of college acceptance season...( So far so good..the big schools we are waiting on).I am so happy and proud of our son and his accomplishments.and he will be living his best life...but sad the fact we will be empty nesters in the fall, and that this winter SUCKS and we will not have our traditional last snow day ritual...it just really hit me this morning...we most likely are not even going to have any measurable snow this season.

Mom, your kids will need you all the days of your life. As for liw snow, it could be much worse. No calamities to rue means something. Every parent’s life is replete with turning points. As with most things we cannot control, we must have faith the the universe is moving aling as it should

Down to 39 from 44. NWS has me at 3-5", WU forecasts 6.3".
I feel for you Mom, our senior is heading off to college next year too. I've been feeling melancholy about it a lot....but he just totaled our car Friday night (everyone is fine) so now I'm feeling sad about our poor little Crosstrek. It was too young to die

Re: February Obs & Discussions
Starting the Friday thing discussion here.
This 12Z Canadian won't work for snowfall as shown, but it would produce quite a bit IP and some front end snow. The block and the 50/50 will determine how much confluence and that will affect the shearing of the system. I-84 corridor and above seems most reasonable place to have bigger impact.

35* with bright sunshine. Still some patches of snow on the ground which is nice, but it is quickly shrinking. Hopefully the mid-March threats pull through.

So February ended up 5.2 AN at CPK mean temp of 41.1. January's furnace was 43.5 LoL. To beat the dead horse yet again this was the worst meteorological winter (DJF) by far not even a close second. 72/73 was a winter lover's paradise relative to this abomination.
