July off to a warm, but not hot, start with temps in the mid-80s today. Might see a rare 90 by mid-week! Lol. Let’s hope we have clear skies Tuesday evening for the fireworks.

I watched down pour after downpour and thunder storm after thunderstorm on radar pass just to my north over the CT coast and LI Sound last night and again this am. Not a drop. Amazing.

Just to revisit this post:
Take a look at the 500mb height anomalies during the last two MONTHS:
That positive over Hudson Bay is PRIME. In fact, the entire pattern from North America all the way to India is incredible. Give us this in winter and I’ll take my chances. It’s the reason that we’ve been so cool so far this year. I’m growing increasingly interested in how this all unfolds.

Had a similar experience at the shore in South NJ this weekend. Many storms popping up on radar all around us, but 90 percent of them either missed us or disintegrated before they got to us (not complaining btw, got in a couple good beach days as a result). The one exception was Monday night. We had a wicked Thunderstorm from about 8:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with pouring rain and strong gusty winds. The lightning "show" over the bay was fantastic, maybe even better than the fireworks the next night.

A few intense showers yesterday. Most likely more today. 78 at 10 am. A surprising amount of rain these days. Doc, my lawn can kick your lawn’s butt any day of the week.

Re: July 2023 Observations and Discussion
feel better wxmom, had it twice myself and no def not just a cold it sucks. I know people who developed long covid and a older man I know has been told by his doctors he has permanent long covid, his symptoms will never go away, he is struggling greatly so its just terrible.
Onto weather. Serious flash flooding incoming, has area in a fairly uncommon moderate risk of flash flooding, last time I recall being higher than that at high level was Ida, hopefully it does not become anything like that. 3KM NAM looks to have hefty very slow moving cells over NYC metro at or just before rush hour so major problems if that happens. Looks to take nearly 24 hrs to cross NJ into CT and eventually out, thats slow moving I would say.

83 at 1 pm with 76% humidity. It is as dark out as you could want it to be. Opaque. It sure looks like hellzapoppin. Soon too.
As Janet says this is going to be a gullywasher. I have to think we will lose power on this one. Thunder and lightning is in the distance.
CPcantmeasurewater should be posting about this.
