Your lucky, it was well predicted down here and where ever scott is I hope he is okay because the map he thought would not verify most definently might alreadyhave been met. it is also getting windy which means possible downed trees.dkodgis wrote:Same for up-county. Maybe a thimble-full of rain

Interesting split on meso guidance with HRRR and HRDPS showing that show's basically over for most of West NJ but RGEM, FV3 and NAM show it picking back up with a vengeance in a few hours...

Sure hope not, but yes its not supposed to completely end until sometime tomorrow. By looks of model runs the low in the ocean will pull out allowing everything to the north to rotate back south and offshore, that would be a disaster beyond belief, which it already is for NYC area. LI is still getting pummeled.Zhukov1945 wrote:Interesting split on meso guidance with HRRR and HRDPS showing that show's basically over for most of West NJ but RGEM, FV3 and NAM show it picking back up with a vengeance in a few hours...

And for us Jews in the tri-state area, looks like there is zero chance of eating in the Sukkah tomorrow tonight. It's said that this is an omen for a tough year ahead. We'll see...
I'm living in Long Branch now (exit 105 on the GSP) and by the looks of the maps that have been posted in the past 24 hours, my new spot just might be in the 'jackpot' zone. Yay! More like the jackpit zone in this case. lol
What's gonna be will be, but I hope everyone stays dry and safe! On the bright side, come Sunday we could be in for a pretty spectacular week! Just got to stay afloat until then...
Where did you read that it's an omen for a tough year? That's interesting never heard that anywhere?

Re: September Obs & Discussions
This is insane (as I type it is still raining and there have been several times of torrential rain again), as soon as I can figure out how to get pics off my phone I will post them. I have heard and seen nothing but emergency services since 10:30am, every block has traffic control. The saw mill river flooded one block down from me and people were evacuating with suitcases, a public works guy had to help a little girl in a cute dress trudge through about 2 ft of water to get home from school. School should have been closed today. There have been numerous accidents and water rescues in yonkers, everywhere including a city bus slamming several cars. This is all so terrible.

Re: September Obs & Discussions
My god this tops Ida by a landslide, no pun intended, 9 inches max total through 4pm, thats unreal. I can believe it, and mudslides have to be in Yonkers we have some crazy hills.
At 1257 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between
3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is
0.75 to 1.25 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to
3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
already occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Yonkers, New Rochelle, White Plains, Mott Haven, East Tremont,
Ossining, Tarrytown, Mount Kisco, Dobbs Ferry, Throgs Neck Bridge,
Laguardia Airport, RFK Bridge, Harlem, Greenwich, Riverdale,
Bayside, Co-op City, Harrison, Scarsdale and Bronxville.
Mud landslides have been reported by Emergency Management in the
hillier terrain of Lower Westchester, as motorists should remain
mindful of the dangerous conditions and avoid traveling, if even the
rain has temporarily stopped.

Re: September Obs & Discussions
Rain has been relentless here in nassau county since 10PM last night. Mostly moderate to heavy. Fighting a losing battle with a leak in my basement.I've wet vacked about 25 gallons of water the past 2 hrs. When I went into the garage to retrieve my shop vac found flooded floor there also. Radar doesn't look very good with intense banding for the rest of the day. Currently 58° with heavy rain.Fun times

What a shame GreyBeard, sorry you are going through this.Hate to see our members dealing with this crap.
58 degrees, calm, cloudy.Looks like it may start up again here in a few hours. My area was lucky, only about 1.5 to 2 inches recorded.

Is the system going to move back west once it starts to depart, thats what some models suggest which would push that band over LI and CT back into these areas. or are we done here? I would love it if we are done, skies are already lightening up, often these things eand earlier than expected.

Thanks for lending a sympathetic ear docstox. I appreciate it. Finally got a bit of a lull with the intensity, but I fear there is much more to come.
