40* and rain has started, sucks for February.

Snowing real hard at 7:16 in the pm, 33 degrees, not sticking to roads or sidewalks but sticking to the 3 inches of snow still on the ground,

13 this morning according to NWS. My station said 11. So did the outdoor analog thermometer. I won’t see that again for the rest of the season

Mom, just so. I looked at my swamp maples yesterday and zoomed in on the buds with my phone to confirm what my terrestrial eyes saw: plump, pink buds about a month early. Not open but bigger than I would have expected

A few bursts of sleet with some big snow flakes mixed in this morning.

First round of strong thunderstorms of the season this week?? Maybe. With warm air surging in ahead of the Cold Front Wednesday and a sharp drop expected from Highs in the 60s Wednesday to Highs in the low 40s Thursday we may see some strong thunderstorms rolling through Wednesday afternoon/night.

Had a sleet/rain mix this morning at 33.4*, now 45* and sunny. Ole Man Winter just reminding us he's not done yet!

Then watch out for a sharp drop in temperatures tomorrow night with more winter-like, below normal temps on Thursday (maybe blustery and staying in the 30s all day). Keep an eye out for two things Wednesday night: 1. Could the cold air move in quickly enough for rain to end as snow far north and west? 2. (and more likely) watch for a rapid freeze-up and some black ice Wednesday night and Thursday morning as the ground will still be wet from two days of rain as temps drop below freezing after midnight Wednesday.

My son texted me this morning a picture of this weeks weather up at school:  today in the mid 50"s and Thursday a high of 32 (this is the closest emoji I could get to the death skull he sent..lol)

Had a low of 37* this morning and currently a spring like feel at 51* and mostly sunny..

Yeah after two days of temps in the 60s, those 30s with gusty winds Thursday will feel even colder.

Unfortunately those little guys will probably be killed Thursday and/or Friday AM with a hard freeze. Although maybe they're heartier than some flowers, don't really know what type they are.

Tornado Watch for the Chicago metro area. That is the frontal system that will be coming through here tomorrow evening. With the super warm temps today and tomorrow the atmosphere will be ripe for severe weather with the sharp temperature contrast approaching.

This is def not unprecedented. Unfort we have said that the last several winters. And it has happened in many winters past in Feb or March when temps get into the 50's and you get alot of moisture.
