48* with a steady rain here. Started about 9 a.m. and looks to last until about 1 p.m. before a break this afternoon and tonight. Needless to say, the forecast for the next two days looks wet and gloomy.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
Mom, I too get poison ivy at the drop of a hat. I use oil of oregano for poison ivy. For
oak for which I have a very bad reaction, nothing really works except for diprolene.
41 now. Even though the rain seems mia, what do I know? 3/4 inch of rain in the gauge

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
Tomorrow go be quite the coastal, flooding rains up to 3.5, wind gusts 50-65mph along coast, major coastal flooding possible up to 3 ft of inland innundation and river flooding. At least we still don't have leaves on trees but soon we will and i fear we wont make it out of this spring/summer/fall without a major coastal or tropical impact with the internsity these storms we have had all season.

I hate that creeping crud.I use Technu, Mom, over the counter ointment to wear as a preventative for Poison Ivy and to shorten it's length.Landscapers use the product.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
rain stopped for a bit the big rain and high winds will be coming later though it is already getting quite windy out. This one may verify, NWS is very pullish with thier max wind giust map, rarely see 55-60 shading for majority of area, even a few spots of 60-65.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
I used to do landscaping, loved the manual labor but man was i exhausted. Poison ivy was never really a issue as I could spot it a mile away, also when we were doing brush or tree felling we would cover everything.docstox12 wrote:weatherwatchermom wrote:44* 1 inch of rain so far and heard on news (channel 12) out of the 92 days this year we had 56 days with rain..

Coming from someone who 100% gets poison IVY if Im in the same yard as the stuff TECNU is very effective. Although I use this version of it when I suspect I came in contact with poison Ivy. It MUST be used within a very short time from your exposure, ie: finish the gardening and immediately use to remove the oils before the immune system in your skin can bet triggered.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
Thank you everyone! lesson learned. I thought I was not close enough to the area it exists..my neighbor has overgrown everything..but I never gave it a thought came in showered and by Monday afternoon its all over me. I def react to it..on a steroid pack..and hoping not to need the shot..and my eye is bothering me today...fingers crossed I caught it early..darn it..I will leave the rest to the person we have come each year who is not effected by the dreaded ivy...last year he pulled it out with his hands..lol

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
The ULL too far north on this as what was anticipated several days ago. Slide that thing towards KY and the local interior would have sig snow from this system. Even in January crossing Chicago is not a good thing for snow in these parts. At some point things will start to even out around here. The block was just not enough to nudge this thing. We wait until next season for better fortunes...

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
Winds are whipping here, many small branches coming down already and I think the highest winds is going to come around early evening when we will be at most risk of outages. But it is concerning I am already seeing some debris coming down. When the rain lets up the wind dies down which makes sense as NWS said there is strong inversion (or is it weak) and with any heavy rain most 925mb winds will mix down.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
43* and very chilly with some real strong gusty winds here. Had to hold onto the door to keep it from getting caught in the wind on the way out. Have had periods of heavy rain off and on all day with some thunder around midday. More heavy showers and storms on the way for later.
Temps are running about 12 degrees below normal. If it were January that would mean we'd be in the mid 20s and, well, you know how much snow this would be. As is always said, in life, TIMING is everything.

Dad calm now, I expect things to get really ramped up once the LP fully develops and tracks over the area.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
I have had some very bad bouts with poison ivy. It is my sworn lifetime enemy. The tecnu works pretty good when caught early, but usually I'm already in distress by the time I realize what I've done to myself.

Re: APRIL 2024 OBSERVATIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
Had some wicked gusts here, can verify 40's but may have had some stronger. 2.42" of rain so far. A few tree branches down, and some street signs and a lamp post. Definitely a night to stay in!
