Definitely the strongest I've ever been in, but that makes sense since it was centered pretty close to where I'm at in NJ. Literally was concerned the ceiling tiles were about to come down.

Hearing some people close to epicenter had pictures come off the walls and things fall off shelves. Hope I'm not coming home to a mess this evening. I live about 2 miles from the epicenter.

I hope so, even over here my shelves swayed and I thought they may tip over. 2nd floor is worse than 1st from what it seems.

I keep getting alert after alert, now aftershock alert and sizematologists are saying though unlikely a 4.7/4.8 (some places are saying either or) could trigger a even larger earthquake, lets hope not. Hope all are okay, this is a type of nature event I NEVER want to experience again.

That’s exactly what I thought!  Once I saw all was well in the basement, I realized it was an earthquake and felt relieved. I ran outside and so did all of my neighbors! Most of the pictures on my walls were askew, but that’s it.  Scared the heck out me when it started.  That was the strongest earthquake I’ve personally experienced.  Looking on a map, I’m about 23 miles (straight line) from the epicenter.

One more thing to cross off the bucket list  pretty unsettling though but glad to know what one finally feels like. I'm not sure how people in California deal with this on a constant basis.

Snow yesterday, earthquake today and going to see total eclipse upstate on Monday. If I could just get a tornado in between now and then it would be my all time weather/celestial event week.

This I think shows where the faults the felt it, one literally passes IMBY, the blue line in Yonkers. Kinda still sitting on edge as aftershocks are always possible even long after, con sometimes trigger more earthquakes too.

Ha CP your funn, but this is not funny. Things across the planet are going nuts, yesterday or something there was a 7.0 overseas, thank god it wasn't that strong.

Here is the map. There was a pre-curser 3 weeks ago and there have been a few aftershocks. 3rd earthquake I've experienced, all here in NJ, although one was centered in Virginia (felt it on the beach in Seaside Park)

I wish I could find a map that overlays roads and towns with the Ramapo fault line.  As best I can figure, the fault line is very, very close to where I live.

Just had a pretty good aftershock here. Didn’t last as long, but was pretty strong.
