August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Here's what you can expect this weekend:
Today: Clouds around with showers in the afternoon. Could become steady overnight into early Saturday morning.
Saturday: Scattered showers in the morning leading to partial clearing in the afternoon. Then another chance of showers Saturday evening into the overnight hours.
Sunday: More rain showers in the morning. Could be steady at times. Possible clearing late afternoon. Otherwise, mainly cloudy.
Total rainfall .50-1.00 inch. Nothing to get worked up about.

Had a thunder storm - here nothing major like a chuwawa in a pit bull fight - meek at best - several claps of rumbling thunder and moderate rain .25" from it.
68* and humidity - holy my instrumentation after the storm is showing 97% - disgusting!!

Had lightning hit a telephone pole in Westwood, transformer on fire, power outage in the immediate area....fun, fun, fun....people thought the street was closed due to the ongoing PSEG nightmare!

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Those bands look crazy estimates for just north of Yonkers was saying up to two inches poer hour for several hours now. Might be a tad bit more (sarchasm lol) by the end of the weekend there. Seems we are in a dry area surrounded by everything in NYC and very southern westchester. Didn't expect this kinda rain today. Showers?

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
I was at work at the time the cell was just chillin over an area from the tappan zee br to white plains and north of Yonkers. I dunno if it ever moved by or just rained itself out. I noticed driving home the streets were much drier going south.

I guess you can call this an "observation"
bugs swarm showing up on radar.
Look at the pics of bug accumulation.

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
I kind of feel like eastern PA, NJ, and NYC are in the dry slot this weekend. Sure we got some rain overnight, but the bulk of the action is all around us. That being said, I think tomorrow night could spawn some more showers. Otherwise, weekend going as I predicted. Mainly overcast with spotty showers.

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
what a beautiful day and pleasant evening!! hit 85* today at 76* now with a light breeze. you may say weather is boring now unless you went to water park today and just had a nice dinner in backyard with family as i did. this kinda weather is priceless, esp in summer when we can get outdoors, and a lot more of it on the way! BTW if you think we have boring weather, heading to LA this weekend for 10 days. here is the forecast from accu weather; sunny every single day with highs between 82 and 90.lol
actually this is there wording...mostly sunny, plenty of sun, abundant sunshine and partly sunny. guess they have to try and make it sound exciting.lol
