12 years ago today. Beautiful 2 part storm. One day I got 6 inches with a winter storm warning and then a blizzard warning the day after with 8 inches of snow.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEVxCSVbKog video by Ciofi in November, but still a good explanation in layman's terms of what's going on. Especially about the much ignored jet stream. It's been awhile since my Birthday will be this warm, but hey, I'll take it. Right now the whole east coast is going through it.

55 years ago today!!!!
Clouds were lowering and thickening all morning with the fading sun peaking through.Up to 11 AM, I could see in the far NW (I was in Fort Lee NJ at the time) some blue sky.By 3 PM, all the blue filled in NW and the sun disappeared into the grey clouds.Temp was around 33.The only way you got information then was the news on the radio every 30 minutes.Mets were calling for no more than 4 inches total the afternoon of the 11th.
At 3:30 PM, the first flakes started to fall.Light to moderate snow fell until around 8 PM with2 or 3 inches on the ground. All hell broke loose after 10 PM, moderate to heavy snow and wind increasing all night where the howling woke me up a few times.By morning, over 20 inches on the ground with 3 to 4 foot drifts on the NE side of our house.Snow stopped around 10 AM, but the clearing brought high NW winds, blowing and drifting, and temps falling to single digits that night. This was Monday morning and school was cancelled that day AND Tuesday (cue the Hallelujia Chorus,LOL).
All in all, a magnificent snowstorm and the first one to get me hooked at age 10 on major snowstorms, an addiction that has me on this website at age 65.

I'm putting this in banter because it's probably too good to be true. Mid level split of PV according to GFS. Wish it were under 200 hours.

GFS at the surface looks hideous to me, I just keep seeing that ridge pumping and a progressive pattern with little storm chances in the east besides maybe around the 18th overrunning event, interesting...
