He did mention that its more likely the models would show a slower storm and the EURO and GFS might respond with ticks westward to show a more general consensus of an inside the benchmark track.amugs wrote:Two fold here Nuts - Good slower storm longer duration of heavier bandsnutleyblizzard wrote:Per met in NE forum, 12z RAOBS in Canada finding higher heights than what EURO and GFS depicted last night. This new data could influence 12z model runs with more westward/slower motion of storm.
Bad - mix issues could/would impact NYC, lI and coastal NJ - NNJ, WNJ and LHV would be golden

Wow, this was the situation back in the 60's and 70's when big snowstorms in the NYC Area ALWAYS had those mix possibilities and "amounts will be higher north and west" of the City was always in the forecast.

Time for a pep talk before kickoff of 12z. We have lost lots of sleep over the past week when this threat first showed up. We have been through all the ups and downs with each individual model run. Now its time for a consensus. Let's bring this damn Roidzilla home!!!

You can already tell at hr 20 the 12k NAM is going to be a monster. Slightly higher ridge out west and more southern stream interaction.

So if the h5 closes off at the right time we'll have a monster to remember not that it won't with current forecast but if it doesn't is speed a unknown factor until it makes that turn and rides up the coast?

Heights appear higher along the EC so far on the NAM. I imagine we'll see a fairly madonne worthy output soon.

A storm is coming up the coast and delivering 12"+ snow amounts either way. But if H5 closes off, then we get into Roidzilla territory of 24" or more.

I see that the NWS has finally extended the blizzard warning to parts of NJ. I've been waiting.

Looks like a very amplified run coming in. Could cause mixing issues along the coast. Check out these jet streaks and their placement.

Re: March 14th Godzilla Discussion Part 2
Jman Frank will not go into Roidzilla mode until and IF he knows weather or not H5 closes off.
The local radio stations are being REALLY CONSERVATIVE. 880 am is saying 6-12. 1010 wins is saying the same with the snow winding down Tuesday afternoon.
Let's get an area wide 12-18" for all members and all rejoice

I always look forward to your thought's and insight on our upcoming storms. Your an excellent forecaster in my book. It seems like this board has a lot of talented individuals on it. That's why I love it so much and I'm so glad I'm a member. Hopefully you'll get some time to draw one up. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with for totals.

I'm trying to post maps and provide people valuable information. If you want to complain, go to the banter thread. For the record, this run verbatim gives you over 10 inches of snow. Please relax.
