Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
It looks like temps will get lower tonight than they were last night. Northwestern NJ is under frost advisories.
Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
My weather station is showing a temp of 47F already, got down to 45F last night. Maybe I'll get down into the upper 30s? Or is that overdoing it?

Hmmm idk, I think 41-43 is more likely. But definitely let me know tomorrow. Should be interesting.
Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
Yeah most likely, and alright I will!

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
I am still at 54 degrees as of 11:30. Looks like the higher elevations are experiencing coldest temps. I'll probably only drop down into the 46-48 range.

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
The area currently over the Yucatan in the GOM shadowed at 70% chance to develop may play a role in our weather next week by the 24th-26th.
All three global weather models seem to agree that a piece of energy will break off and spin up to a LP that will ride up the front associated with the trough moving through the NE bringing with it some tropical moisture. GFS as of last night had the low as well as the majority of the moisture stay to our south leaving us dry, whereas the Euro and CMC have a decent amt of moisture making it into the area. CMC develops the energy into more of an ULL with smaller weaker LP spinning up affecting the area with moisture from the 23-27th. There is even a scenario that would hold back the energy in the GOM which could allow for a hurricane to actually get going as seen by the HWRF. Too early to tell exactly how it all shakes out.
Since it has both Tropical features, and just general weather for our area I will put this in the sept discussions thread.

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
Here's a pretty crazy stat. Last September I only had 3 nights with lows in the 40's. Including tonight, I would already have 9 this year.
Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
The cold front has cleared and will be a beautiful day
Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
Gorgeous day Frank - paintballing was scary - dudes in camos and sniper scopes, we were like the sacrificial lambs - got pelted big time - weather was perfect though - duped a ref to give us our own field for a few rounds with my son and his friends and that made the day. Looks like a great week ahead as well.

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
I remember going as a child and I got shot in the ear. I was petrified for the longest time. But I went back for a friends birthday and it was fun. That's cool you got your own field! And yes, weather this week looks great as well.amugs wrote:Gorgeous day Frank - paintballing was scary - dudes in camos and sniper scopes, we were like the sacrificial lambs - got pelted big time - weather was perfect though - duped a ref to give us our own field for a few rounds with my son and his friends and that made the day. Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
The next week and a half or so is going to feature tranquil weather conditions under normal temps and sunny skies. By the weekend, we should warm to above normal temps for a bit. Pretty boring pattern, once again
Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
September has been remarkably cool. I got down to 44 degrees last night. My 10th 40-degree night of the month.

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
I think we can officially say summer is over. 80's are done.
Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
No Indian Summer?? - No possibility of seeing some spotty areas that hit the 80's in the mid October timeframe as we have in the past?
BTW the 80's were done a long time ago for us forty something year olds but the will be around for hopefully a good many years to come - !!

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
The 80's were great, accoring to my dad.
And then I came in 1992 and it all went downhill from there. Lol, jk.

Re: September 2013 Observations & Discussions Thread
1992 - Holy Snikes - that when I started teaching !! Doc the 1950's and 1980's have some striking parallel's and I agree Indian summer and the 80's will make a comeback in mid - late Oct they always due - I can even remember in early Nov one year we were playing in the state soccer tournament and it was 80 something degrees out.
