LOL, poor kid hope he doesn't get sent to the principals office.
I trust him more than I trust you. Awesome job teach him young.
Kid reads the forum all day when there's snow in the forecast. Then he texts me from school in class while I'm teaching and tells me to stop posting and do my job.
He also rips on me for my maps and loves your zingers. Good kid

Let this be understood now by ALL..esp those east of NYC. There will be frontogenesis and banding develop. Where there is banding there will likely be areas of subsidence...its inevitable.
I don’t understand. If the next town over gets more snow then me I will be angry
Jman you really do seem to be in a major screw zone in that area of Yonkers. I visit clients in that shopping center across the thruway from Stew Leonards in the offices there. It's still within Yonkers address but maybe 5 miles north of you and there's always a lot more snow there than you seem to get. It's weird how every area seems to have those. RB seems to be in one of those in his area of Dutchess.
It's true, CP!!! I have to go home to see snow lmao and any snow we donget has been disappearing almost as quickly as it falls lol unreal.

And I'm 20 miles south of you with over three feet so far this March and over 20 inches OTG.
Very weird, I'm only at 600 feet so it's not that relevant elevation wise. Are you close to the Hudson river because I have noticed especially when it's not iced like now it can have a warming effect? Also the elevation there is very low by the river.

Re: Wx Banter Thread 3.0
Yeah, I'm only about three or four miles from the Hudson as the crow flies, so my elevation probably only a couple hundred or so. There is a ridgeline immediately to my East and southeast, though, so I think there is also a pretty significant shadowing effect with nor'easters, as the easterly flow downslopes off that ridgeline into the Fishkill valley on easterly to southeasterly flow. That was very pronounced in the first event as I was getting nothing but flurries while the mountain a mile away was white-out all day lol interesting microclimate for sure!!! Certainly the opposite of what I'm used to at home aha

As for current snowpack, when I left Sunday morning we already had spotty bare ground after receiving a foot just two days earlier lol where there was snow, it was only 4-6" deep at best.

If we had these last three storms in January or February with arctic air the coast would have gotten 4 feet and the interior 6 feet plus EASY
We would not have even needed the Arctic air. I agree with your totals too. I can't complain about three feet of snow in March but I will admit to thinking quite often how if this pattern happened in Jan or Feb I would have had 5-6 feet and like you say the coast 3-4 feet.
The moral of the story be thankful for what we have.

So incredibly frustrating. The NYC snow hole is real especially this March. It never really accumulated here on anything more than car tops and has melted since early this morning. It’s in the mid 30s here now with a rain snow mix on the Upper East Side. If you just woke up now here, you’d never know it snowed this morning.
I am already making considerations to move to a snowier location at the end of this year when the lease expires, perhaps Westchester...maybe... being near Central Park is nice but that’s been the only snow benefit.

Yeah not uncommon for March, esp at this point as we approach the middle of the month. In any month though being in Manhattan is one the worst places to be if you love snow. At least your not in Midtown though. All evidence of snow can be gone with amazing speed.

Central Westchester does OK as long as you stay at least a couple of miles away from the river. It factors in on those marginal events.

Frank you jinxed the last one kid you do it this time CP, DOC and SYO will come after you with pitchforks and torches!! To busy making green M&M's for St Paddys Day and finding an apartment not to mention emailing us at 8PM with a message that almost made the board explode only to have it explode in our faces.
Can't be doing that to the faithful disciple o' great one!!!

Doc CP you know what we need??
The snow girls from OTI 2014-15 to help for our next snowstorm. They brought us tremendous winter after I brought them in and desegregated the Island back then.

Based on this winter alone I’d say Long Island. They get the goods every storm.

Hahaha Al that was funny.
I sent a newsletter Thursday night (or Friday morning) to alert people of a potential Godzilla today. But as it turns out some people are getting the newsletter far later than I expected. Some got it yesterday. Some this morning. Crazy That is one of the perks of this forum I should probably not use...
