Movember
Folks,
Happy MOVEMBER _will it be a month to remember??
Here we are - the mid point of fall and the front 2/3 a torch so far with latter 1/3 an icebox.
Now, indications that there will be a couple of cold shots and a very wet month are in the cards as projected with the MJO, PAC JET extension, Karents Sea or Scandinavian Block not to mention the warm anomalous Atlantic off of our coast.
I think temps wise we are going to be about N (+/- .5) and Precip Above Normal (+/- 1"). I also think we will have a threat of white gold or two for the high country peeps - NWNJ, HV, EPA folk. Nothing out of teh ordinary for this time of year as we progress into winter.
Set the clocks back - Fall back this weekend - an hour extra of sleep sheeple LOL!

I took my family north into New Hampshire about 2/3rds north into the state. I can see Mt Washington out my window from where we are staying. It’s cold and raining and my family is hiking and loving it. Sis supposed to be in the 20’s when we wake. I can’t wait!!

Re: Movember
Happy hiking Scott!!
October finished above normal. That sounds hard to believe, right? But we did.
But if you look at just the last 14 days - we were averaging -4 to -6 below normal.
We must have had some very EXTREME + departures that first week of October when it hit 80.

Re: Movember
We are looking at rain tomorrow and Saturday. More rain.
It is mainly showers and it will come in waves. A wave tomorrow then one last one overnight Friday into early Saturday. I think it could clear by 3-4pm Saturday.
Less than 1 inch to 1 inch of rain between the two days.

Also a high wind watch was issued this morning for NYC are to Canada border and on east. That was in expected and I bet you this is when winds will actually happen for or me. When I had no clue there was a threat.

Re: Movember
This storm system is gonna pack quite the punch. 1-3 inches of rain overnight into Saturday will further saturate the ground just in time for 60 mph wind gusts tomorrow evening. Power outages are likely. This is basically the last storm that wasn't (not including immediate coastal areas that saw flooding of course). Solid write-up here:

Re: Movember
Funny as frank stayed above there really wasn't going to be anything I'm curious in his thinking. And its a hww for now might become a warning tonight and it seems it will only be like a 6 he period. What's odd is sr wind maps don't show winds at that time all that strong maybe this is our turn soul lol

Re: Movember
Hww downgraded to advisory I see this being nothing as frank said. Just like last time. Well here anyways. Its only a 7 he wind advisory that's really quick. Hww further east I guess won't be as strong until reaches further east. We will see.

Re: Movember
I am now a sole believer that unless its happening I don't believe any of the wind maps. They never showed anything too crazy for this anyways euro has 40 to 55mph max but I'd say cut 1/3 off. I just realized that is from cranky wx guy come on you know he is full of it. Means nothing.SoulSingMG wrote:This storm system is gonna pack quite the punch. 1-3 inches of rain overnight into Saturday will further saturate the ground just in time for 60 mph wind gusts tomorrow evening. Just awoken by an emergency alert on my phone for a Tornado Warning in my town and surrounding towns. T’Storm cell with suspected rotation estimated to be here by 12:30 am. Might have to head to the basement.

Re: Movember
Your tornado warning is cutting right through nj if it holds it will be on a b line for NYC area. I'm thinking the fact that the storms tonight played out that the high winds tomorrow afternoon might too.

Going to Sleepy Hollow area this evening and need to cross the Tappan Zee. Any idea where I can find if there are/will be speed restrictions? I tried Google and it’s not really helpful.
