I can’t tell if you’re serious or not but you do realize that New Paltz and your location are both is our forum coverage area and probably equidistant from NYC right?1190ftalt wrote:Hello Tissues, can we please keep this to local forecasts, I mean my daughter goes to the university of Michigan am I going to proclaim it’s snowing in Ann Arbor! Was driving to eastern ct today hit a few wet snow squall one was even sunny. And it was 48. How is it snowing at 48? I know the upper air can b cold enough but once it hits 48 wouldn't it b rain?

from what I understand..the upper air is cold enough to support the snow..but there is not enough time before the snow hits the lower warmer air to melt it...someone with knowledge of the subject can correct me..

Re: Movember
Early wintry feel outside today.
Get ready for teh cold shot this week after the storm Tuesday.
Friday is shaping up to be really interesting for N & W of NYC like 25-30 miles at this tiem for snow, sleet, zr and rain. More interior section from Western Passaic County North and WEst looks to be wintry teh whole storm at this time.
We have a Negative EPO, AO and NAP with a Positive PNA and a southern jet stream bringing the goods.
EPS Mean SNowfall - Ill take it and run - a lot is sleet and zr Thursday night into Friday

Look out for that invest near the Bahamas playing a role in Thursday's storm as well. Looks like we've got an interesting storm potential on our hands!

Heavy frost, sun rising, leaves 80% down, temp is 24 degrees.Looks like a slop storm at the end of the week. Not liking that at all but it's wintry rather than wet.

Re: Movember
Doc, you know how the leaves go. Get them up for it they become wet...this is the first season I only did a day for the front and a day for the back and I used a new blower pack to put them into the woods. Much easier. However, I must be getting older because I am feeling it. At 8 am it is 24 here and how much rain have we had for the calendar year? If my weather station is accurate...95 inches. Could that be right?

Re: Movember
I started a thread on Thursday's possible wintry event for areas N&W of NYC.
I've also updated the snow confidence index (SCI) on the home page to 2%. As a reminder, this is my confidence of at least 1 inch of snow falling in central park, NY.

Damian, I have my lawn guy do the Fall cleanup, I did leaves for 35 years in my old Mahwah property, an 8 hour back breaking job.I'm done with this at my age of 67,LOL.Just got a Red oak and Norway Maple still dropping leaves at the end of the property.Should be done by the end of the week.

Re: Movember
Woke this morning to a coating of snow. Not quite enough to completely cover the grass, but enough to make everything that beautiful white that's been away for so long.

Re: Movember
Light coating of snow here in Binghamton this morning. Didn't quite cover the grass. Now melting away.

.50" of rain last night, the 45° temps sure felt colder today.

Re: Movember
It's really looking like one of if not THE coldest Thanksgiving on record for our area on northward into New England.
Also, the Tuesday system just got interesting for folks in CT on north and east into central Mass (in case any of you commute there).

Re: Movember
Temp departures Thanksgiving Day anywhere from 15 to 20 degrees BELOW normal.
Between 25-30 degrees for NYC, 25 degrees or less N&W
These are HIGH temps at 1pm in the afternoon. Unbelievable, right?

Upton:
While the strongest dynamics will pass well to the north of the area on
Wed, an arctic front will pass through the region Wed eve,
possibly triggering a few snow showers north and west of NYC.
There is also the possibility that once the front taps into the
moisture from LI Sound and the Atlantic that additional snow
showers could develop, however will need to wait 24 hours to see
if any of the hi res guidance picks up on this.

Holy cow! Just had an intense snow squall move through. Mix of snow and graupel, temp dropped from 41.6° to 35° in minutes! Looked like a blizzard.... Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
