Doesnt look all that great here either.
I see maybe an inch or 2 on pavement and melting now. Sat was more impressive.

Oh, 100% re. Saturday vs. this storm (for the city at least). When 11pm rolled around and it was still white rain, my spider bust senses popped off.

Man oh man the NYC mayor is gonna get it for this one. Every other town and city had it right with a delay which was prolly even unecessary. Well I was really hopeful we would be closed. So everyone to the north west and east of me saw over 6 inches yonkers snow hole per usual. Well going back to sleep till I gotta go in.

still 33.4°, 7.5" of concrete, if temps hadn't been marginal we could have been easily 10"+

8”. Winter wonderland outside. Storm exceeded my expectations. Never thought I’d get that much due to surface temperatures.
33” for season. Never thought i had any chance at meeting seasonal snowfall. Praise March!

4" out by me, but I measured late. Im assuming compaction is playing a role. Poor ratios affected the coastal plain due to the Southerly flow as the Low exited the coast. The NAM was right on with that strange hole it was depicting on the snow maps. It makes sense. My surface temp never fell below 34*

8.1 inches here, actually surprised we didn't make 10 after measuring 7.0 at 12:30 pm. I sense it's already compressing on it's own weight.

Surface temperatures are absolutely critical. I hovered around 32 for most of storm. November storm I never got above 26. This would’ve been a foot with temperatures in 20s. There was a lot of precipitation.

EXCELLENT CP! Looks like we were in the jackpot zone.I was getting concerned with the S and E shifts. In fact, NWS had the low end of 3 inches down from 6 to 10 a few days earlier.Hey, a little over 10 inches and we get to normal here.Anyhoo, slightly below normal is a helluva lot better than MUCH below normal.

I'm curious what the trained spotter in Monroe will post Doc. If they measured at 3 or 4am right after it stopped I'll bet it was close to 10. This stuff is compressing rapidly on it's own weight.

HeeHaw453 speaks truly. The limbs outside are coated with about an inch. Evergreens are sagging with more. To look outside here, you would think it was a winter wonderland after a blizzard. 8 inches was my total and I am still surprised about temps. It seems warmer at 32 than I expected. Just beautiful outside, real Hallmark stuff (card, not the two TV channels).

About 4.5” here (within my 4-8 zone so what I expected). But compaction could have cost me a half inch or so. Very heavy wet snow to shovel and clinging to everything. Just knocked it off my young evergreens - they’re still a year or so too young to have to bear all that weight. Getting stronger though! Lol.

Re: Sun/Monday March 3rd-4th 2019 Storm
For the immediate NYC folks, this is probably my shortcoming in not saying this before the storm but I’m not shocked. You guys are really in a special micro environment and in a storm like this, in March, with daytime temps in the 40s and temps during the storm of 33* - it is really hard to get accumulation to stick in that city. If temps were in the 20s different story. But if you look at reports, areas east, west, south and north of the city - all with similar temps at or above freezing, are reporting 4-9”. I grew up in Philly so I remember this well down there too. I sometimes forget now out in the burbs. Next time we have this type of storm I will try to factor this into my pre-storm discussions.

Central Park measured 3.8 inches at 1 am when it was still snowing heavy. Their peak was probably around 3 am.
I'm sure since then it compressed and melted in half at least. Curious what they'll report. I would guess the peak was 5-6 inches around 2:30, but if they measure this morning at 7am or later it will most likely have compressed and melted to half that or less.

Interesting. Well that is consistent with the forecast then. I had NYC 4-8 and I saw others 3-6. I think people are also basing their measurements off pavement where it doesn’t accumulate as quick as opposed a snow board or grass.

Yep, I used your measurement for now CP but will go with the trained spotters, no offense my Buddy, as the final total. The trained spotters, like Janet, have the proper ways to do this rather then myself with my bad eyes LOL.
