Assuming it had at least 0.4" of snow after 8 PM, this will go in the top 20 in Albany's biggest snowstorms, and would be the biggest snowstorm for Albany since 2003.
I think you need to get to 20 inches to get in their top 5 December storms of all time.
Quite an accomplishment in your first meteorlogical winter month there.
On NWS ALB's website, here are the top 10 December snowstorms:

And here are the top 20 all-time snowstorms:

Note that there is a big difference between #1 and #2 on the all-time list.

Well that was the Blizzard of 1888 Mike. Four feet of snow from one storm is a rarity anywhere, and of course most places in the world never see anything close.

They've had over a foot of heavy wet snow which preceded the ice and sleet from yesterday

We have 7 inches in Stillwater at 1190 feet altitude, but under that is 1/2 to 3/4 ice and Trees and Branches are just falling left and right!@jmanley32 wrote:anyone know why almost half of sussex county NJ is without power?

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
There are heavy bands in Albany and just S that are heading SW
Let's see how they hold up and have far S they get. Could be the Energizer bunny by just reloading the moisture.
Could be some surprises in store for some.

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
My dilemma:
I now live in Morris Plains where a little over 4 maybe 5 inches of snow has fallen. Everything has been plowed but it looks like another few inches could fall overnight.
Meanwhile where I work in Hackettstown it’s snowing steadily. They could get a good accumulation overnight. To work from home or go in...hmmm

Mugs, just got in from ambulance duty a little while ago, getting much better stickage now that we got the temps right! Maybe we can squeak out another 2-3" with those bands. Looks like we will have snow until 2 am. Late to the party is better than never!

Re: December 1st-2nd Winter Storm Observations
Here in Albany, the past several hours have featured a big band of snow just sitting over me. When all is said and done, widespread 20-25" snow totals could be expected here in the tri-city region (which is the term given for Albany-Troy-Schenectady)

12.0 inches on the ground and about half of that after sunset tonight.
Looks like snow is Finally done here. When this first started I said I’d be satisfied with 6-8 and ecstatic with a foot. As late as late this afternoon I never thought I’d get anything close to a foot. Label me ecstatic.
