I think 60+ mph gusts NYC east are likely. I don’t think winds west of NYC will be as bad. But with all of the rain we’re getting, it won’t take much for there to be wind damage.

I am 1 block from the bronx so i guess that includes me. And im surprised we are in the afvisory but 15 miles east of here is under hww. And how long duration at approx what time? I know sorry thats a lot questions. Im go bed but i want get up when it is supposed to be ripping.

I was thinking the same thing jman. Looks like central PA. has been getting hammered while up to this point I have been getting dry slotted, which is fine by me. It's pretty wild how far north you have to go before there is a changeover to snow. All the way to Hudson Bay.

be glad its not snow then as this would suck. Nam shows it picking up fairly fast overnight and i think nyc on east is ripping winds by early morning into late morning possibly. Nw of nyc flooding go be biggest issue but as frank just posted with all this rain there will b wind damage.

Oh man i just realized they put up one of those cranes for big buildings near my job in new rochelle. I hope they took precautions to secure it. Ive heard of them coming down in less wind before.

Hey all! Quick update: Heavy wind swept rain in Astoria, NY. Winds are definitely picking up!

Heavy rain, I hear the neighboors windchime blowing around and rain hitting windows, can also see rain whipsing around at times and running and blowing along the road. It is hard for me to tell because I have a number of buildings around me that block the wind, I would have to go up the road while is open and higher up. But raining much too hard for that.

Update 4:38 winds are blowing rain in sheets scross neigboorhood. So far only a few ourages in westchester. The rain has let up a bit. and you can hear it roaring which is not easy here on a busy street.

Did anyone else see tgat huge flash in direction of hudson in southern westchester. Power surged so my guess is transformers blew. It happened twice. No thunder so thats my guess.

same here transformers just exploded in dustance. Power went out for a brief moment.

Mild 55 degrees, moderate rain and very windy with higher gusts.There have been bursts of heavy rain.Just put the garbage out by the street and it is something to experience out there.Looks like a wild 3 to 4 hours coming up.

Heavy rain continues to fall here. Already at close to 3” I believe, may approach 4 if it keeps raining at this rate. Pretty sure there will be some flooding around here and continue under a Flood Warning. Temp wise, a balmy 61*. The barometer has just crashed here, now at 29.08.

Looking at the radar and the fact that it got dead calm suddenly when the rain stopped i think it may be over for my arwa in terms of the high winds and rain. We really got very little rain it appears. The fencing arpund s scaffolding collapsed blocking a entire block and a few trees down. We will see if radar fills in but futuecast keeps all the rain over nj and training due north. In a big dryslot now.

Just for a heads up if anyone is taking the throggs neck bridge don’t stay home .i live of the highway and it’s not moving the traffic going to Queens or Long Island I am assuming the Whitestone bridge is closed as well

Never mind ripping again with a sudden downpour. My daughter has 2 hr delay. This looks like a TS wind is just blowing across the open areas in sheets. Pretty cool looking.

i dont believe they even closrd the bridges completely for sandy did they? Some damage around here a snapped pole few trees down snd a barracade arpund a scaffold fell down blocking a entire block.

it’s hard to tell because because traffic is moving very slowly on throggs neck expy on the throggs neck bridge I don’t know if they are letting tractor-trailers on or off the bridge or if there’s a speed limit but the Whitestone bridge is open .at least it’s not that windy out
