Re: DEC 18th-20th 2023--Wet, White, Wind?
The rain from this storm has stretched all the way up to James Bay in Quebec and parts of Labrador. I haven't seen snow from this on any of the northern or western extremes of this precipitation field which in mid December is really odd, well use to be odd, this is our new climate and I for one can't stand it.

That northern stream energy is digging into the northern plains now. Unfort too little too late for most if not all of our area; maybe the extreme NW reaches of the people on this board will see a snow shower within the next 12-24hrs.

50.2 very light rain. Had about a bit less than 3" from this which 3/4 of came in a 4 hour window so the streams/creeks swelled up a bit. Wind was not an issue as expected.
As for snow I believe that's Western PA and State College area. The 500mb trough positively tilted and becomes strung out as it hits the coast. No bueno...

Re: DEC 18th-20th 2023--Wet, White, Wind?
Winds were way worse and more sustained out by me this time around compared to last weeks system. Was woken up multiple times overnight because of the freight train roar of the winds. I have multiple fairly large branches down in my yard. My neighbor found this when he was bringing his kids out to the bus stop.

Yup. The snow on the radar above will likely fizzle out as it hits the coast as a result

Yikes. Do you think 60+ mph gusts ELI? Looks like there were some impressive gusts around the coastal areas.

It would not surprise me at all to see 60+ MPH gusts for my area. Winds were screaming.

How do they not delay school? That is ridiculous.

Re: DEC 18th-20th 2023--Wet, White, Wind?
oh going to be a long day..not as crazy as out by Sroc..but we have had over 3.5 inches of rain so far our sustained winds were in the high 20 and our highest gust was 44 at about 4 this morning...still raining pretty hard we had a moment that the sun came out this morning..part of town lost power, poles are down, trees are down, roads flooded! we hit 61* now dropped 6 since this last round of rain started
Son says they are in the thick of it right now..fingers crossed his driver and him get to the station ok later today!! Stay safe out there!!

Clinton Township cancelled school today presumably due to all the flooded out roads...

Re: DEC 18th-20th 2023--Wet, White, Wind?
Here comes anotehr heavy batch of rain - wonderful.
Another slug of rain incoming could add ~.5 to totals
A top 3 worse drives ever to school in my 32 year career.
Left home at 7AM and for a 17 minutes drive it took me the better part of 45 minutes to get to work for a 7 mile trip.
Had 2 detours and rove through 1/2 dozen flooded streets - numerous down trees and large limbs etc.
No delayed opening. Students and staff took an hours to 90 minutes to get here today. The brooks and rived are still ragining an with this last slug maybe even worse travelling home.
Winds clcoked at 44 MPH at my house, roaring overninght.
Had 2.76" when I left at 7AM and it was absolutely pouring.
There was absolutely little hype to this storm as some might have alluded to it being overhyped. It was bad up here and my freinds at the shore in Manasquan, Belmar and Long Branch have all said.

You can see just how deep a tropical connection this system has. The tail extends way down into the Caribbean and beyond. Really Impressive.

According to NOAA, we’ve had about 4 inches of rain here. Lots of flooding. Route 10 in Whippany closed in both directions a few miles east of here. Still raining.

Good luck later! My daughter had the same trouble getting to Waldwick this morning. Hillsdale and Westwood flooding all over the place, you're probably better off coming from Allendale Ave to Woodcliff Lake to Montvale. Seems to be better up there. We had 3.5" before this last round started.

Not really 43mph was low. It was nuts here. New Rochelle/Larchmont had a gust to 64mph, I saw a report of 54 mph in Yonkers. Highest gust was somewhere in MA 90mph!
