61 degrees at 7:54pm in Feb, absolutely disgusting, we are doomed, before we know it its gonna be hotter than the desert in the summers here and FL weather in the winter (kinda kidding but kinda not). Actually I believe there has been colder air in FL than here, someone told me it got down to single digits in FL, we havent even come close in NYC.
Side note:How can you be so sinful and drink dunkin? It is toilet water, starbucks for the win, more pricy but real coffee. : )

It is dispicable, I am much more interested in tropics as our liklihood of getting a hurricane to hit the coast is more likely than snow hahahahahaaKoroptim wrote:Winters in NNJ truly suck now. If that happens tehre wont be any Florida and you wont be living within 100-150 miles of what we call the coast today. There'll be a population of about 2 Billion people left.
Trex and his friends will make a return to eat the rest of the people! LOL!
Greenland will be......Green again hence its name the Viking, Nordic folks gave it back in the Medieval Warm Period when they had thriving farm settlements their.

Snowfall amounts for the entire winter have very little to do with the average winter temperatures in a place like NYC.
We are now completing the warmest nine year period of winters since records have been kept. If you compare the average temperatures in Winter vs any of those snow drought periods you refer to in the past, the averages in those winters were almost always several degrees colder than what we've experienced since 2015/16.
I'm not talking about cause here I'm just stating facts. People can believe whatever they want about why we're getting such mild winters now, or even deny they are getting milder. At this stage no one's changing my mind and I probably can't change anyone else.

Good points CP.
Whether these mild temperatures are from climate change or naturally occurring, or in combination in percentages we don't know, there is nothing in the immediate future we can do.The USA on it's own initiative has cut down on greenhouse gasses since 2005 but other countries like China and India build more coal fired plants every year.Good luck getting them to comply. If it is naturally occurring, good luck with trying to control that too.Greenland was once settled by Vikings who farmed the land.
Anyway, I am thankful to have the memory of those winters back in the day that you describe. In the immediate future , I guess we will have truncated Wall/Wing types of cold and snow events.Right now I am enjoying this week of snowpack, cold and a few light snow events possible.

Cp I’m not sure it’s fair to simply infer that the statement made in any way was implying a snow to temp correlation. Seem like you may have assumed that and took the statement in a particular direction. It’s more than fair to just point out snow fall records. If you look in my signature you can clearly see that I have had above avg snow fall for 8/12 yrs and yet as you point out this area has been warming.
If we’re to look at data since records have been kept I think it’s fair to say that evaluating that data is like evaluating the 10minute period before you sat down for lunch yesterday and saying that what was happening to the temperatures in your home during that ten minutes can be used to understand the temps fluctuations in your house over your lifetime. It’s reasonable to think that you changed the thermostat setting and the house is warming as a result, but the thermostat has been on an automatic time your entire life and at some point it will go back to a lower and higher setting than what you tried to set it at depending on the time of day and time of year. (Actually it’s prob not reasonable to think you specifically changed the thermostat to warm your house. It’s prob more reasonable to assume you had a guest over who increased the temp without you knowing).
But if we are going to just look at data over the last ten minutes of recorded history let’s make sure to include the rapid expansion of urbanization and it’s affect on the temp data of the NYC metropolitan area and perhaps look up and down entire continental coast lines and compare the amount of concrete today vs 100yrs ago.

Politics ie CONTROL is involved. This is nothing new BTW.
The Greenies would probably be shocked at what happened in NYC back in the 1940's.Manhattan, Bronx and parts of Westchester were served by the clean electric trolley system of the massive Third Avenue Railway System. My Mom and my very young sister would ride the Amsterdam Ave trolley from 188 st to 167th to visit my Grandma.LaGuardia, the Mayor back then, and city administrators probably under pressure and who knows what kind of kickbacks, decided that the image of the City must be "more modern" and decided to junk the trolley system in favor of smelly diesel busses. This was all accomplished from 1946 to 1952.General Motors, Standard Oil and Goodyear had their political lobbyists all over the country working at this and many cities junked their clean trolley and interurban lines in favor of polluting busses. And , brother, did they pollute! I rode many back in the day in the 1950's and 1960's.Political activism back them caused this massive change.
Today, we have the opposite side of the coin.Personally, I have no problem with cleaner air initiatives but it has to be done fairly and logically. You can't just switch from ICE to EV overnight, it will take 25 years MINIMUM.Adequate sources of electric power to recharge has to be developed( think nuclear or hopefully, breeder reactors). These ugly windmills which kill millions of birds including Bald Eagles( not a peep from leftist PETA on that) or ugly windmills killing whales off shore(PETA....crickets) plus the acres of ugly solar panels put on beautiful farmland acreage up here(leftist Sierra club not a peep) will only provide a small percentage of the power needed for a complete EV transition. How about concentrating entirely on hybrid vehicles while the infrastructure is building out rather than shoving EV by political force down people's throats?

As I said above and they were farming wine, yes wineries in England back then too.
Dr. Willie Soon has a great interview on this topic and Dr. Roy Spencer of UAH has one too.
The ocean hold much more thermal heat than the land and they are massive!!

EXCELLENT post on this!! Submarine Volcanoes paper was published last year on teh pacific ocean warming but neglected. Sun and its cycles, galactic sheet/dust, electro universe, magnetic pole shift are a few others that are being but when they find out contrary information they get caboshed.
