Canadian and GFS Kuchera look pretty realistic to me. Canadian might be a tad overdone in North Jersey, but if heavy band sets up there, maybe not.

Colder air should start asserting itself over next few hours. 40 degrees here with a Dewpoint of 33* presently. Hoping temp is at least 33-34 when heavier precip arrives near daybreak.

The Canadian just made the GFS feel much better about itself.

Dare I suggest we have a hint of model agreement?

Just got upped again from 6-11 to 8-13 inches. I'm guessing that was because of the new model runs that Frank and others were sharing/discussing.

I'm in Whitehouse and it's all snow(light) at 40 degrees.

Where do you see that? None of the WSW in NJ or NY go above 10 inches, most are below.

38 degrees. Rained lightly for a few minutes and then changed to a mix of sleet, rain and wet snow since 11:45pm.

Stopped and theres a huge area of the dreaded word showing on futurecast from western nj through nyc snd ct while it snows to the north and south for at least a hour or 2 could be a issue with the futurecast radar or the S word.

Started snowing hard at 1:20 in the AM, ground almost covered, 31 degrees out, sticking to everything but the sidewalk, went up to 37 degrees today so sidewalk still holding heat,

30 degrees now at 1:57 in the am, snowing pretty good, sticking to everything now , cars, grass and driveway, sidewalk has salt on it so not sticking, feels like a wet snow, approaching 1 inch,

Agreed. 31.8.0/31.6 column has crashed. Surface colder than expected this early. Ground is covered and moderate snow. LETS GO!!!!

h5 trough going negative. Want to see that continuing to tilt more. That would be indicative of heavy precip and possible close off. Mid-levels closed off and stacking vertically. Good things..

That's awesome!  Where are you?  Nothing happening here in Old Bridge, light mixed precip, everything is wet, no coating at all.

Yup, lowered snow totals on TWC (6-11, to 5-8 now 3-5), went from snow to a mix for this morning.  Things must've shifted.

For folks with rain or mix atm the 850 freezing line (which usually determines frozen precip) and cold air is just sinking across NNJ right now (indicated by the blue lines on the maps heehaw posted above). Looks to be from southern Hunterdon to Central Somerset to just south of Long Island. North of that you should be snow. South rain. A mix in the transition. That line will sink south in the next couple hours especially once the Low moves to our southeast and deepens.

Lightly snowing and sleeting roads are getting slushy
