Most of it should be staying south of NENJ until after midnight Sunday/Monday. We are in the black hole, so we won't get anything, right mugs???

Re: September Observations/ Discussion
This is a great time of year to observe. Especially the temp departure from NYC to the northwest suburbs. Seeing NYC in the 60s and us in the low 50s even high 40s pretty cool. Also glad to see that the Eclipse will be Sunday and so far the weather looks favorable since it will also be a perigee moon. It will be nice to see. Unless you're a conspiracy theorist, then of course the world is supposed to end that night also

Re: September Observations/ Discussion
Thanks Ryan ! I can tell the range of morning temps while on my morning runs this time of year. My house on the hill was 56 degrees this morning , while the lower valley was in the 40's.Quietace wrote:Its not as atypical as you might think. Especially up here, On clear cool nights you often get deep temp inversions from the emission of long wave radiation. Cool air is more dense than warmer air and thus sinks down slope into the valleys. Example was 2 nights ago here, Plymouth Municipal airport had a low of 40 degrees in the valley, while Mt Washington at 2km was at 44. We are on the slope into the valley, so we didn't have the lowest reading, which i believe was near 35.snow247 wrote:Strange that the valleys are cooler than the higher elevations tonight up here in the HV.

Sun through Monday
Euro Now
GFS
Looks like it going to get a little wet - that HP is going to protect us from the soaking rains but showers with some easterly,NE winds .
I would gladly take a quarter inch of rain being advertised.

Re: September Observations/ Discussion
Sunday still looks like a mainly dry day to me. More clouds than sun, but rain showers should hold off until mid to late afternoon.

Of course, why would it be nice for an eclipse. Looked nice in the beginning of the week, but every time there is a celestial event something always happens like rain or cloudiness.

64 degrees, 67%, 30.29 R. After very cool start, temps rebounding to summer like values.Skies cleared nicely and hope they remain for tonight's eclipse.
Can't wait to see the final average temp for this Sept. It's got to be way up the list of warmest Septembers.

Re: September Observations/ Discussion
The next 2 days we'll see temps in the upper 70s. Could touch 80. Then the pattern change will occur right around Oct 1st.
If anyone has pics of the Blood Moon tonight post them here. This event does not happen very often. Too bad there's clouds around.

Re: September Observations/ Discussion
The models seem to be honing in on a LP with a lot of rain and some wind (no don't worry I wont go hack crazy posting that lol) within 86 hrs or around Wed, Frank whats your thoughts on that, all the models now show this and 18z GFS really clobbers us rainwise. And again this weekend, verbatim that is, but since wed is only 3 days away is it still safe to say it could disappear? Also isn't saying at least one inch of rain a little on the low side judging from the totals maps or was that just for one event? Interesting week coming up and Oh I hope so bad we have these kinda of thing keeping LP from budging. Rain is no fun in that amount but snow is!

Re: September Observations/ Discussion
So moon is up and for those of you who haven't read about it, the total lunar eclipse will happen around 10:11 pm. So far the clouds look like they will stay away long enough. It's about time. Think we've been clouded over for the last 4 lunar eclipses.

It looks like this blocking pattern is going to bring us quite a bit of rain. With a closed H5 trough dropping in from Canada this is going to cause a lot of interaction with the H5 vorts.
Between Wednesday and the weekend we could be looking at widespread rain amounts exceeding 2 inches or more, but I want to see how models look tomorrow.
