But whenever the map shows "z" subtract 5 hours to equal east coast time. If a map is valid for 12z then it's valid for 7:00am here.
Yes

my concern the entire time
spring day to a foot plus of snow in places..i just hope the models are taking this into consideration and the ground doesn't eat it up
Crazy to have such a turnaround. If thats to happen seems more March like than early Feb.
I feel confident a night time start plus intense snowfall rates will overcome the warm ground. If this was an extended period of light to mod snow slowing accumulating to several inches I'd be very skeptical. A burst of very heavy snow and then no less than moderate afterward for a while will overcome it.
A 2"/hr rate can get that initial coating down and we go from there.
Man is it warm though..and lots of sunshine 62*
Any chance of getting thunder snow? Â Crashing into this warm air 60s, and some 70s just south of here..2nd days of 70s for many in the mid atlantic.

Don't worry about temperatures the cold front is moving through eastern PA right now. Temperature is down to 46* in State College and 42* in Pittsburgh behind the front. Once that comes through this evening we'll get down to the low 40s quick then the low 30's by the time the precipitation gets heavy.

If that's the case RB, then Frank will have to upgrade to Roidzilla storm mode. Who would of thought of this just a week ago when most of us gave up on this winter.rb924119 wrote:I'm still expecting a westward correction, too

Re: February 9th Godzilla: Fast & Furious Storm
The reason why I continue advertising a further westward adjustment is because of my analysis of the jet structure. Up until now, the short range guidance has been alone in suggesting the explosive development of a coupled short, stubby jet structure prior to movement in favorability for our region, with subsequent maturation as the favorable region passes just east of our western board members. However, given the trends for earlier and more explosive jet development and coupling, this also lends itself to earlier maturation of the system. As such, I am expecting to see these trends aloft continue, as the diabatic heating effects of the rapidly strengthening precipitation field become realized and feed back into the system, which will continue to expand the heaviest of the precipitation field further north and west.

This is going to be one to remember. How we were somehow able to pull this from Mother Nature's ample hindquarters during a period when things didn't look especially promising. It can be a rallying cry when times look bleak during future winters. "Remember The Ninth!!!!". Much like "Remember The Maine!!!!". Just without the pyrotechnics and bloodshed.

Re: February 9th Godzilla: Fast & Furious Storm
The TV outlets are always slow to respond to raising snow totals. I blame it on the March 2001 debacle. You would think they go with 10+ region wide this evening, but It would not shock me if they don't.jmanley32 wrote:The media is go b in a frenzy shortly with that euro run! 18z and p0z sr runs huge.
