12K NAM took my area from 13 inches to 5 from the 6Z to 12Z. I'm not complaining just stating a fact. The cutoffs are so sharp east to west 25 mile moves in the cutoff areas will be huge.
In summary if you're in NYC and north and west expect almost anything.

Re: January 4th Snowstorm: 1st Call Snow Map
12z NAM with ratios still giving me about 6-8" of snow probably, just missing 10" or more. I really can't be disappointed with that. Even the 6z GFS had me around 5 or 6", which again, I don't think is so bad. This mornings trends have taken me from a 1-3 or 2-4" storm to a solid 4-8" storm. I'll sign for that now.

Weather channel app has orange county for 4-6 and NYC for 2-4. It's a useless app, I should just delete it.

Re: January 4th Snowstorm: 1st Call Snow Map
p.s. I'm not obsessing over my own totals here for my own sake. I am located in a part of the state that I see as a bellweather for this storm. If I get a decent snow here, 90 percent of the people on this board should get a good hit as originally I was right on the cut-off line

Basically well entrenched in the.75-1.00 area with a 1.00 inch dot basically over our town. I sign for it now.
With that said headed out on the road, hopefully things don't turn against us when I check in again tonight. If nothing else it's fun as always but tomorrow will determine if it's also aggravating as hell.

Re: January 4th Snowstorm: 1st Call Snow Map
The dark blues on this graph represent areas of subsidence on the NAM. An area between two heavy bands of snow could be "dry slotted" in a sense. There is always a "screw zone" with every big/powerful storm and it's unpredictable where it sets up.
